Lime powder: application in the garden, in the garden

To get a good harvest in the garden or the garden, it is not enough to sow seeds and plant seedlings or seedlings. Both plantations and soil under them need to be provided with proper care. Experienced gardeners and truck farmers for fertilizing the soil or for the purpose of controlling pests along with other means use a variety of chemical preparations. One of the most popular is the lime pusher. In the garden and garden there are many factors that make it necessary to use this product.

What is a lime puschka? How can it be useful for ensuring the normal growth of garden and garden crops? What are the features of its application? Let's try to figure this out in this article.

What is a lime puschka?

For the garden and kitchen garden in which the owners practice natural farming, the application of calcium lime (a substance of organic origin), which is divided into two types:

  • (CaO) quicklime;
  • (Ca (OH) 2) slaked lime.

Both species are safe for humans and plants (subject to usage and reasonable handling).

Calcium lime is used as an additive in the food industry (marking E-529). It is a product of processing of chalk, limestone and other minerals of the carbonate group. Externally is a white powder, dissolving in water. The main rock-forming elements are dolomite and calcite.

Lime powder: application

These substances are well known as effective tools for feeding garden and garden crops. They are widely used in large-scale (field) farming and in private farms.

Both alone and as components of lime, they are used to treat plants to protect them from pests and fight diseases, and to improve the quality of the soil.

What does "quenching lime" mean?

Pushonka is slaked lime, which is easy to obtain at home from the usual quicklime.

The quenching process is a reaction between a calcareous powder and water, the duration of which is only a few minutes. During the interaction of these components, a kind of "melting" of lime takes place - processing it into a form more convenient for use and safe for the plants being treated. In this case, one must take into account one nuance: when making slaked lime, you can not use hot water, since the high temperature of the liquid helps neutralize the useful properties of the product.

About the features of application and use of lime for the garden and the garden

According to Vishnyakov's classification, lime contains such substances as calcium, potassium and magnesium. The form of potassium is oxide, easily assimilated by plants. A large proportion of the limestone is calcium.

It is known that many plants do not tolerate an overabundance of calcium. Nevertheless, it is indispensable in important life processes occurring in plant organisms. The presence of calcium in the soil is necessary: it retains hydrogen ions, which contribute to providing a favorable level of the reaction of the medium.

Functions of calcium:

  • Protects cultural plants from diseases, strengthens their immunity;
  • Activates the activity of nodule bacteria that retain nitrogen in the soil, coming to the roots from the air during loosening, which improves the quality of plant nutrition, increases their resistance to various harmful factors;
  • Improves the transport of carbohydrates in tissues;
  • Favors better dissolution of elements in water;
  • Contributes to a more qualitative and active development of the root system.

Ingredients of lime components are vital for plant nutrition.

In this regard, indispensable is the lime of the pussy, the application of which in the garden is described in the article, when composting is formed. Calcium is a catalyst that activates the activity of beneficial microorganisms that release nitrogen from organic matter and mineralize it. In addition, it helps to accelerate the decomposition of organic matter and the formation of humus.

The ability to reduce the acidity of the soil is one of the most useful properties that lime has. Its application in the garden and vegetable garden contributes not only to normalizing the reaction of the upper soil layer, but also to improving its chemical composition. It neutralizes the effect of toxic metals - manganese, iron and aluminum.

Plow lime, application in the garden, and also in the garden for the normalization of the chemical composition of the soil is known to all gardeners, positively influences the structure of the soil, making it more cloddy and less free-flowing.

How often do liming?

Lime is actively used in agriculture for various purposes. The most actual of these is the neutralization of the acidity of the soil. For this procedure, lime is used. Application in the garden (the application rate is shown below) occurs with observance of such terms:

  • Usually liming is carried out once every 4-5 years;
  • On the soil that has undergone intensive exploitation - once in 3 years.

How to determine the increased acidity of the soil?

To determine the degree of "souring" of beds (increased acidity of the soil), it is worth paying attention to some external signs that the earth "signals" about changes in its chemical composition:

  • The appearance of green moss on the edges of the earth;
  • Sprouting of horsetail and wormwood, clover, ledum, heather, sorrel, white, creeping buttercup.

Presence of these uninvited guests on the land plot is a sign that the lime is necessary here, the application in the garden is made in accordance with the established dosage.

In addition, a characteristic sign of acidity are:

  • It is whitish, like an ashen layer lying on the surface;
  • Poor growth of beet, wheat.

Determine the increased acidity possible using paper indicators that sell in specialized stores.

Why struggle with the acidity of the soil?

Acidic earth is a paradise for pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Useful microorganisms in acidic soil are represented in insufficient quantities.

On acidic soil usually grows a lot of weeds. Cultural varieties do not take root well in such an environment. Their root system weakly develops, which often leads to the death of plants.

A high level of pH indicates an increased level of hydrogen ions in the earth. When fertilizers are introduced, hydrogen reacts with them, which transforms their composition, making them useless for plants. Carrying out soil deoxidation in autumn or spring helps to reduce the level of manganese and aluminum. Magnesium, nitrogen, molybdenum, phosphorus, calcium will be presented in the required amount.

The norms for introducing lime into the soil

To improve the yield, the lime of the puff must be correctly applied. Application in the garden, the dosage should comply with such application rates:

  • Heavy, clay soils: 450-800 g / square. M;
  • Light soils, loam, alumina: 350-600 g / m2. M;
  • The lightest, sandy soils: 250-500 g / sq. M.

Excess application rates are harmful to plants. Too alkaline soil leads to a reduction in plant uptake of most of the essential trace elements, in particular calcium. On the other hand, a poor quality of liming can be caused by the introduction of lime into the soil at the same time as manure. This leads to the formation of insoluble compounds, which are useless for plants. Vegetable crops begin to lack the necessary nutrients and do not give a good harvest.

How is lime made into the soil?

It is recommended to extinguish lime easily. To do this, it is ground into a powder and moistened with water. Powdered slaked lime is mixed with the ground.

When to carry out liming?

In the autumn, the lime of the puff (application in the garden described in the article) is introduced into the ground during digging in order to completely liming it.

Autumn digging (plowing) of the soil is more preferable, especially when preparing for sowing early vegetables. It should be started immediately after harvesting and removing the remains of roots and leaves. At the site, fertilizers are spread evenly. Seams of soil with a shovel should be turned in such a way that the more sprayed top layer is at the bottom, and the structural bottom is on the surface. In autumn it is not recommended to break the clods and level the surface - so the moisture in the earth is better preserved.

The main processing is carried out to a depth of 22-30 cm, for perennial vegetable crops - 35-40 cm.

Areas with a shallow arable layer require a digging of the subsoil with simultaneous application of lime and organic fertilizers:

  • At the digging of a fertile layer, and the podzol (subsoil soil) loosen to a depth of 1-2 cm;
  • There is added lime (150 g / m2);
  • The loosened layer is mixed with fertile soil;
  • Organic fertilizers are introduced (8-10 kg / sq. M.);
  • The furrow is covered with the upper layer of the earth.

Carrying out annual loosening and fertilizing the soil promotes an increase in the arable fertile layer.

Knowing the owners is appreciated lime puschka. Application in the garden in the spring is also possible. It is introduced into the soil in small amounts for easy digging, mainly for those crops that are particularly sensitive to acidity of the soil: onion and garlic, lettuce, mustard, turnip, radish, cabbage. The procedure is carried out one week before planting seedlings and sowing seeds.

In the spring it is very important to keep the soil moisture. The treatment is started when the ground is still moist, but no longer sticks to the shovel, but is capable of crumbling into small lumps.

On the use of lime along with fertilizers

Lime can be mixed with organic fertilizers. However, you should observe certain restrictions:

  • It is not recommended to mix chalk, cement dust, lime, marl, lime, dolomite tuff;
  • With natural fertilizers it is allowed to mix exclusively calcium organics (ground limestone).

Weed control

Effective protection against weeds is the lime of a pussy. The use of weeds in the vegetable garden is advisable, if the site is too acidic soil. It usually grows a grass-indicator, like mocrica. It is very tenacious, so it is difficult to fight it with mechanical means (weeding). An effective way to combat the lice is to create unbearable conditions for the weed. For this, when digging in autumn, chalk, ash or lime should be introduced into the soil. With a decrease in the acidity of the soil, the mocrica will disappear.

The use of lime (200 g / m2) is fatal for many weeds, including wheatgrass and horsetail.

On the fight against the wireworm

The wireworm (larva of the beetle-click) is the most dangerous pest of the garden. Combating it involves a mandatory combination of various methods in conjunction with preventive measures. Getting rid of this unpleasant guest will significantly improve the quality of root crops: beets, carrots, radish, potatoes. Ignoring his presence on the site can lead to a complete loss of the crop.

A favorable condition for the propagation of larvae of the wireworm is the increased acidity of the soil. Decrease in acidity leads to the fact that females cease to lay eggs in such an environment, and in the future this will save the site from the pest.

An effective means for this is the lime pusher. The use of wireworm in the vegetable garden provides for the introduction of a small amount (0.5 kg / sq. M.) Into the soil, watering, re-digging after a few days and rewetting. Ash is also added (one handful to each well).

Application in horticulture

Pushenka is indispensable in gardening. It is used both as a deoxidizer for liming soil, and for whitewashing trees and shrubs.

Whitewashing is an effective and inexpensive means of protecting trees from pests.

Spring whitewash protects the trunks from scorching sun rays, as well as from the waking wintering insects in the land. Trees that are regularly treated every spring with lime are not carriers of pests.

Many gardeners whitewash trees for the winter. Autumn mud clay and whitewash contribute to protecting the trunk of the tree from sudden temperature fluctuations. The impact of the same rainfall (rain, snow) makes the whitewash layer insufficient to protect against insects and solar overheating, especially dangerous for young seedlings. Therefore, it is recommended to bleach the trees after all in the spring.

Before whitewashing, it is necessary to prepare the trunk - to remove the upper dead layer of the cortex, in the axils of which larvae and adult pests can be harbored. The bark must be burned. After that, the tree is treated with a prepared solution.

How to dilute lime for whitewashing?

The components are thoroughly mixed:

  • Clay (300 g);
  • Mullein dry (1 kg);
  • Copper sulfate (200 g);
  • Lime (1 kg);
  • Water (10 L).

The solution is left to swell. You can start processing trees after 2-3 hours. Guarantee of a positive effect is possible only if the recipe is strictly observed.

The use of lime lime for liming soil, as well as for controlling pests and weeds contributes to obtaining a quality and rich harvest.
