A young Russian city with a population of about 44,000 people is not familiar to every Russian. Where is the city of Langepas? On the map of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug you can see that it stands on the right bank of the Ob River, 430 km from Khanty-Mansiysk, and from Tyumen at 930 km. Its fate is connected with the beginning of gas and oil production in the Middle Ob area. He was born as a settlement of oilmen. The city appeared on the map of Russia on August 15, 1985. Its area is 5951 hectares. Langepas is included in the galaxy of cities of "LUKOIL".

An excellent tradition has appeared and successfully established in the city: the City Day and the Oilman's Day (the professional holiday of the majority of city workers) are marked by the completion of the construction of new architectural structures. So, the list of new buildings in recent years includes school and city stadiums, a water sports complex, a mini-football hall. The construction of a modern hospital complex has been completed. A well-equipped medical institution consists of 10 departments. A new kindergarten was opened, which is attended by 280 kids. The city of Langepas boasts the first exhibition center, a health complex and the Cathedral Mosque. In parallel with the objects of social purpose, housing is also being built.

In February 2002, at the parish, a sisterhood was created named after St. Xenia of St. Petersburg. Since 2007 the rector of the parish church is Priest Valery Basakin. Traditional confessions, such as Islam and Orthodoxy, make a great contribution to the preservation of the traditions of their religions, to the upbringing of the younger generation, take an active part in the fight against drugs and their trafficking, smoking and alcoholism.

Langepas: attractions

Despite its youth, the city of Langepas has its monuments and sights. The main of them is the Square of Memory of the Warriors of the Second World War with a memorial complex. Here come the gray veterans and first-graders in the mourning for our country days to honor the memory of those who at the cost of their lives upheld our right to life and freedom. In the brightest days of their lives people come here to lay flowers and thank all those who died for their saved lives.

In 2001, the president of the oil company Lukoil presented the city with a monument that was installed in the central square. It is made in the form of a lotus flower and symbolizes the bright future of this city.

In 2005, on the town square Langepas appeared "Squirrel" - a symbol of the city, made of bronze. The nose and ears of the sculpture simply sparkle in the sun, because the inhabitants believe that the one who rubs the squirrel will be happy.

For the city, the well-known sculptor A. Kovalchuk works a lot and works fruitfully, whose works can be seen in the Tretyakov Gallery. "Memory to the pioneers", "After the watch", "Boy playing with the dog" - these are some of the author's works exhibited in Langepas.

Museum and Exhibition Center

It is curious to know that the history of this still very young museum began with the collection of an amateur ethnographer, who for many years collected tools, clothing items of everyday life of the local population. Currently, more than 200 rare exhibits are kept in the museum's funds. Quite recently a "Young Ethnographer" circle was opened here.
