Knitting a poncho: how and why

In the year there are periods when the weather changes dramatically during the day, and going out in the morning from home, it is very difficult to understand what to wear, because at this time the temperature can be very low, but by lunchtime it will rise almost to the summer mark. In the first place, of course, it's about spring. In such insidious weather, you will either have to carry around with you all day long unnecessary jacket, or freeze in the morning in a light windbreaker. Unfortunately, very few people remember about such a wonderful option as a poncho. Nevertheless, it was invented by the South American Indians precisely in connection with such features of the mountain climate. Of course, modern ponchos differ from Indian ones - they are lighter, smaller, more convenient, and only the basic principle - the absence of sleeves and the cutout for the head - binds them to the prototype. Due to their shape they protect from the wind in cold weather and allow them to feel comfortable in the warm. But ponchos can be not only warm, but also delicate, having a purely decorative character.

There are several options for how to make a poncho. The most common way is to knit a poncho crochet or knitting needles. Knitting with poncho knitting needles is easiest. As a rule, it is chosen if you want a warm product. It can be multi-colored, with braids, bumps or openwork pattern. Usually such a poncho is decorated with fringe or tassels, performed in an ethnic style and most like a prototype. The simplest option is a poncho of two rectangles, and even a beginner can master it. Also, with the help of knitting needles, it is possible to knit a poncho entirely, from the neck, with a gradual increase in the number of loops. It's a little harder, but also quite easy. It's a little more difficult to knit a poncho crochet, although it may seem easier for someone, since crochet is faster anyway. Typically, it's fishnet models for the summer or just decorative, even evening. Using the hook, you can create incredibly beautiful products.

A knitted poncho can be long and warm - often such items are supplied with a hood. This is, rather, a version of outerwear. There is also an option for short warm ponchos - they are used as a cape or scarf and often have a warm collar. Also knitting a poncho can mean creating light flying silhouettes, rather for giving an image of romance, rather than for some practical purposes - basically, it's, of course, knitting a poncho crochet. Such a product can serve as a simple cape, and top and even a dress, if you wear it under your belt. This dress is very unusual and beautiful: it helps to hide the shortcomings of the figure and emphasize the dignity, and the uneven edge of the hem will visually make the legs longer. This variant of wearing is also possible with trousers, usually jeans are preferred. In general, any poncho and jeans - this is the perfect combination. It refers us to the era of the 60s - it's a classic style of hippy, recently very relevant.

Knitting a poncho is very exciting and usually a simple process. Many who just want to learn how to knit can begin to master the skill with a poncho. Why start with a scarf, which then may not come in handy, when you can connect a stylish, relevant and practical thing, which certainly will not be dusting in the closet for years? For skilled craftsmen there are also interesting, complex models, knitting which can take many evenings, but in the end you will get a thing of fairy beauty. The choice of poncho models is truly huge. By the way, ponchos are not only feminine - it can be very appropriate for a child, because sometimes the weather is warm but windy, which is especially dangerous, and the poncho will be the perfect way out: it will not let the baby sweat, but protect from the wind. Recently, this element of the wardrobe has turned and men's fashion: initially it was men's clothing, and now the stronger sex is gradually returning to it.
