The expense of the fugue Kiilto

The rate of consumption is 0.5-1.5 kg / m 2 (not including losses when grouting joints). The flow rates can vary depending on the type of tile coating, the width and depth of the joint, the method of grouting and the professional skills of the builder who conducts the work.

Surface preparation when working with Kiilto

Place the joints of the tiles clean from accumulation of dust and dirt. Remove all loose adhesive residues.

It is important to monitor the depth of the trowel: it should be no less than the thickness of the tile.

Take into account: wiping the joints between the ceramic tiles with the system of the warm floor, the latter must be disconnected 24 hours before the start of work and start again not earlier than 7 days after the completion of the trowel.

Grout grouting is carried out in strict accordance with the terms established by the manufacturer.

After the work, ensure the optimal temperature regime in the room (+ 5-30 о С) for the next 72 hours. Do not forget to protect the treated surface from precipitation and excessive moisture, which reacts grout "Kiilto". The colors of the palette can be chosen any, most importantly, that the tone of the mixture corresponds to the color of the tile or harmoniously contrasted with it.

How to prepare grout?

To prepare the mixture, take clean tap water, the temperature of which is + 10-20 o C. Mixing ratio: 3-3.2 liters of water per 10 kg of dry grout (indicated on the package).

Prepared powder is poured with a prepared amount of water at room temperature, continuously mixed for 3-4 minutes, until the solution becomes a homogeneous consistency without lumps.

The prepared mixture is left to stand for 10-15 minutes, after which it is re-mixed. Now you have a ready-made grout "Kiilto". The color palette allows you to choose any shade, but do not overdo it, but choose it according to the rules of coloring. With the finished solution, you can work for 2-3 hours from the time of preparation, after which it loses its properties.

Operating procedure

The finished solution is applied to the joints of the ceramic tiles in the diagonal direction, at an angle of 45 ° to the seams. To do this, use a special rubber spatula, which under the pressure of the hands on the entire surface is pressed to the place of formation of the future seam so that the cavities of the joints are filled with fugue.

After doing this work, the treated joints are allowed to dry. The drying time of the fugue depends on the microclimate of the room: the indicators of dampness and heat; Quality of work performed. After 15-20 minutes, when the tile dries, it is wiped with a damp sponge or napkin. When cleaning the grouted joints, care must be taken that they are not damaged by excessive moisture, therefore the sponge should be not wet, but slightly moist, so as to remove the remnants of the material and clean the tile from contamination.

Water entering the joints can lead to leaching solution from the seams.

After cleaning and drying the tiles it is polished with a special tool or a dry rag.

"Kiilto" - grout, which has proved to be a high-quality mixture, has high adhesion values. To increase the strength of seams, you can use a special tool Strong produced by the company of the same name, designed to strengthen the seams.

The use of Kiilto Strong is appropriate when the width of the joint is at least 1 mm.

Recommendations for working with the mortar "Kiilto"

Do not forget about the rules for choosing a color palette. Light shades of trowelling are preferable, since even small errors are even more pronounced on dark ones.

Specialists do not advise processing ceramic flooring, laid in accordance with the closed seam technique, with trowel "Kiilto". Since the tiles are subject to considerable wear, the fugue can crumble from a shallow seam.

When working with a tile without a glaze layer applied to its surface, pre-wet the finishing material with water before beginning the grouting.

When making the finish using a porous structure, perform a test before the beginning of the work for easy cleaning of the crumbled particles of the grout.

When processing seams in the joints and tile angles, as well as in the passageways from one room to another, use an additional neutral sealant on a silicone base. Make sure that it matches the surface to be treated according to the color scheme.

Addition of water to the ready-made fugue solution is not recommended, as it leads to deterioration of binders and other properties.

Freshly prepared grout mass is alkalinity: pH> 14.

Safety while working with material

Observe safety standards when working with material such as trowel for tiles "Kiilto". A solution in the eyes may cause irritation and inflammation of the eyeball.

Although the material is safe for humans, specialists still caution that prolonged contact with unprotected skin and inhaling dust from the grouting should still be avoided.

When working with solutions of this kind, use personal protective equipment: mask for mouth and nose, building gloves and glasses. Remember, the first thing to do when getting into the eyes or in the mouth is to wash the affected area with plenty of running water, then consult a doctor.

Product Opinion

The manufacturer gives a guarantee of the declared quality under condition of correct storage and transportation of a material. This fact is confirmed by user feedback.

Many companies selling building materials have their own Internet portals and sales departments, where the buyer can leave his opinion about the product. Easy to use, high-quality, inexpensive - this is how the "Kiilto" grout is characterized. Reviews describe the material, usually in a positive way, but it does not do without the negative feedback of the masters, which, by and large, are purely individual opinions.
