Kiev. South Bridge: description and photo

One of the ancient Slavic cities is Kiev. The South Bridge (landmark city) was built on December 25, 1990. It was considered the most modern in the Soviet Union. The Yuzhny Bridge was the seventh bridge across the Dnieper.

History

This is one of the sights Kiev can be proud of. The Yuzhny Bridge has its author, who at the same time became the first chief engineer - this is Fuchs G.B. (The second one is MM Korneev). The leading architect of the project is Gavrilov A.E. For the construction of the bridge was allocated 112 million rubles. The project was developed by Mostostroy No. 1. The chief engineer was Panasyuk IA.

The design of the bridge began after Moscow opened. Laying the route first had several options (the continuation of the prospectus of Science, etc.). But the current version of the trace was recognized as the best.

The Vantov bridge became in accordance with the requirements of the river. The construction of the South Bridge was started in 1983 and lasted 8 years. Over sixty organizations of the Soviet Union were involved in the construction. But Kiev took the most active part.

Bridge Southern: the task of construction

The purpose of the planned construction was not only to connect the center of Kiev and the left bank of the Dnieper, but also create a convenient and short way to Boryspil airport. The bridge is built to move it not only cars, but also subway trains. Now the southern construction is part of the E-40 motorway.

The first project

Initially, according to the first draft, the South Bridge (Kiev), the photo of the structure presented in this article, was supposed to have a restaurant built above the subway line, and the covering gallery - sidewalks. On them, people could go to the restaurant or go on foot to the other side. But the project was never implemented, as the pylon is installed in the middle of the Dnieper. There are no places to stop and park nearby.

In an attempt to reach the restaurant on foot people from the shore would have to pass at least half a kilometer. In addition, the question arose about the sanitary facilities and kitchen sinks of the establishment. Sewer pipes would have to be stretched to the left bank, and in winter, communications could even freeze. Accordingly, it would take even more heating for 24 hours. Therefore, the construction of the restaurant had to be abandoned.

Description of the bridge, which Kiev is proud of

The Yuzhny Bridge, built in 1990, is cable-stayed. The roadway is supported by a 135-meter pylon. The whole design is completely second after Paton along the length. At the South Bridge it is equal to 1 kilometer of 256 meters, width - 41.6 meters. The building connects with Bazhana Avenue:

  • Saperno-Slobodskaya street;
  • Vidubichi;
  • The capital highway.

South Kiev Bridge has two ways for metro trains. It occupies about ten meters from the total width of the structure. And on the road passes there are three lanes (width 2х12.25 meters) in each direction.

The overpass section of the South Bridge is made of prefabricated reinforced concrete. Supports are dug to a depth of 23 meters and fixed with drilling piles that go under the ground for another 38 m. In cross section, the south bridge has three rows of prefabricated bird boxes. They are united by monolithic joints made of reinforced concrete. Birds have a different thickness, and the weight of each box is 40 to 54 tons.

The cable bridge is 565 meters long and consists of two parts. The steel section (271 m) weighs 7,400 tons, has the main navigable span. It is fixed with 72 cable pairs. The reinforced concrete part is constructed as a counterweight to the main span.

Building

The initial junction of the Southern Bridge (Kiev) is a three-level interchange at Vydubychi. Then the second bridge construction was built - a flyover, the length of which is 1250 meters. But the main and most complex object was the crossing, the length of which is over 1200 m. Then two pipes of the heating main and the same number of water pipes were laid. Already then communications were built into the bridge.

If you combine all the load that presses on the structure, it will be equal to twenty lanes that are filled with cars. In order for the ships to pass under the bridge, the 300-meter steel part of the structure (along with the main span) was suspended on the cables. The route is covered with galleries only partially, and the sidewalks are laid according to the standard version - along the roadsides.

Pylon

The main part was a pylon in 135 m - this is the height of the South Bridge in Kiev. In the design of the fixed guy. The pylon is made of monolithic reinforced concrete. The upper jumper is a kind of bridge with fences. At the top of the pylon there are small rooms in which winches and other equipment are located. With its help the guys are serviced. The top of the pylon with the road connects the staircase with the spans (they are on the front side), which is hidden in a concrete box.

Interesting Facts

The metro rails were originally planned to be covered with a glass box. But large pressure drops and strong vibration from trains did not allow this innovation to be realized. Since the glass, which would have to be ordered for construction, should have been of great strength, it cost such a large amount of money. Therefore, the designers had to forget about the glass box.
