Jose Kouseyru - a Portuguese in Russia

Far not only football fans know who Jose Mourinho is. This coach became famous after he unexpectedly won the Champions League with far from the strongest club "Porto". After that, he worked in a variety of top clubs - from Madrid "Real" to London "Chelsea". But he is not the only Portuguese coach you can talk about.

For example, Jose Kouseyru - also Portuguese by nationality, and he managed to lead a rather large number of clubs for his coaching career, albeit not as impressive as in the case of Mourinho. It is worth noting that the Russian fan Kouseyru may be closer for the reason that at one time he coached the Moscow "Locomotive". But it was one of the few foreign clubs he headed. What other commands were led by Jose Kouseyru?

Player's career

Many believe that only good players become such good coaches, but in fact it is far from the truth. Moreover, often good players become disgusting trainers, and vice versa. The same Jose Mourinho, who ended his career early due to the fact that he could not achieve absolutely no results on the field, is the brightest example. He realized that he knows much more about the game if he is outside the field, and for a year now he has proved it to all football fans.

Jose Kouseyru was also not an outstanding player - he began his career as a promising central defender in Lisbon's Sporting, but quickly disappointed the leadership and moved to Mortizio, the club that played in the second division of Portugal. Since then, Kouseyru has been replaced by at least five clubs, and all of them did not go to the top division. As a result, at the age of thirty, Jose Kouseyru completed his playing career, speaking at the time for "Estrel".

Beginning of a career coach

Jose Couseyru, whose biography as a player at that time was over, did not immediately become a coach. In fact, it took ten years, and only in 2002, the Portuguese led his first club, which became Alverka. However, his results were far from satisfactory, and in 2004 he was dismissed.

But without a job the coach did not stay - another Portuguese club, "Vitoria" from Setubal, immediately signed with him. It was there that he most impressed the public, winning eight of the nineteen games.

Coaching talent did not go unnoticed, and even before the end of the season one of the strongest clubs in the country, "Porto" invited a specialist to himself. The goal was the completion of not the most successful season, that is, the correction of the predecessor's mistakes. Kouseyru coped with the task very well - his period in the "Port" is one of the best in his career. He brought the Portuguese club to second place, but the contract with him was not extended, and the coach was left without a job.

However, not for long - in October he was invited to the "Belenensi". The season at José did not come off: he won only 26 of 26 matches, so he could not achieve special success with the club. But at the same time he received an invitation to coach the youth team of Portugal. There he spent the entire season of 2006/2007, preparing the team for the European Youth Championship. As a result, the Portuguese played in a draw with the Belgians, defeated the Israelis and lost to the Dutch, and in the match for the fifth place lost to the Italians. After that, Jose took a break for one year, and then decided to change everything in his sports life.

Travel abroad

As you already understood, Jose Kouseyru is a coach who spent most of his time in Portuguese clubs. But in 2008 he went on a big step for himself - headed by the Lithuanian "Kaunas". Completing the season in second place, he impressed the local team and as a result became the head coach of the Lithuanian national team. In this position he spent one and a half years, remembering victories over the Romanians, Austrians and Serbs in qualifying games for the 2010 World Cup. In parallel, he headed the Turkish "Gaziantepspor", but could only win ten victories in 41 games.

Return to Portugal and Lokomotiv

In February 2011, Kouseyru returned to Portugal, heading "Sporting", in which he began his career as a player. He spent there only six months, taking the team to third place. It was then that rumors circulated that Koseyrou Jose, perhaps Lokomotiv, could come to one of the Russian clubs.

As a result, the rumors were confirmed, and in the summer of 2011 Kouseyru became the head coach of the Moscow club. And it was there that he showed himself from the best side - the Russian period is considered the best career of a specialist, as he managed to win almost half of the matches - 20 out of 41.

In the autumn of 2013, he again went home, leading "Vitoria", with which he began his coaching career. There he spent a year, after which he moved to Estoril, who coached in the season 2014/2015. And from the summer of 2016 he came to Vitoria for the third time, with which he had already played 7 matches, having won only two of them so far.
