Izmaylovsky Park in the east of Moscow

This one of the oldest Moscow parks is located in the east of the capital and occupies an area exceeding fifteen hundred hectares. In the Izmailovsky Park, which we know today, the relict forest massif began to take shape around the middle of the nineteenth century, when the first works on its planning and territorial design were carried out. But this place is known in the history of Moscow for a long time. On old maps it is designated as "Izmailovo". In the seventeenth century, there was one of the country residences of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich. It was with him in the Izmailovo forest began to plant rare species of trees, brought sometimes very far away.

City of Moscow, Izmailovsky Park: Sights

One of the favorite places of recreation for Muscovites, this array became only in the Soviet period of history (from the thirties of last century). Izmaylovsky Park finally took shape and to this day consists of two parts. They are separated by the main alley. To the west of it is the Park of Culture and Rest with all the usual attractions of the Soviet era, a large parachute tower visible from afar and so to the end and not built up by the children's railway. Once the main decoration here was a monument to the leader of the peoples, he was located right at the entrance. Yes, and the Izmailovsky Park itself since 1932 was called "The Park named after Stalin." From those times to us came the big and small observation wheels and the boat station on the pond.

And to the east of the Main alley is the natural-historical landscape park "Izmaylovo". It has the official status of a specially protected natural area of regional importance. The eastern part of the park is several times larger than the western part of the park. The basis of the green mass is the relic forest, which grew on this place for centuries. Nevertheless, there are relatively few old trees here. Izmaylovsky Park has been largely renovated by new plantings, which would be more appropriately classified as middle-aged. The Serebryanka River flows through the territory of the natural park, which is very important for maintaining a stable hydrological regime in the forest. With the help of several dams and dams on the river, a whole chain of artificial reservoirs has been created. They are located consistently throughout the territory. Among other things, Izmaylovsky ponds give the forest landscape additional expressiveness.

How to get to Izmailovsky Park?

The area of the forest in the east of Moscow is very significant. The map of the Izmailovsky Park reaches the Ring Road at its extreme. However, to get here on it makes sense only on your own car. In all other cases, it is preferable to use the subway. The closest to the park are the stations "Partizanskaya" and "Izmaylovskaya" Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. But the metro "Pervomaiskaya" is quite suitable . This station is separated from the Izmailovsky Park by a distance of half a kilometer, which can be quickly overcome along the 9th Parkovaya Street.
