Italian defender and coach Gianluca Zambrotta

Gianluca Zambrotta is a former Italian football player who played in the position of a flank defender. Most often he played on the right flank, but could perform on the left. To date, Gianluca Zambrotta, who will soon turn forty years old, is the coach of the Indian club Deli Dainamos.

Carier start

Gianluca Zambrotta was born on February 19, 1977 in Italy, in the city of Como, where he began his professional career as a football player. In his childhood, he played for the youth of the club of the same name, until in 1994, at the age of 17, he was not allowed to play in the adult team. He played just one match in Serie B, which was the only one in his career in this tournament. By the time of signing a professional contract with the player the club flew to the lower league, but Gianluca Zambrotta continued to speak for him. He spent two years there, playing 50 matches and scoring 6 goals, after which he was spotted by the club from the top league "Bari", with whom he signed the contract in 1997.

The heyday in "Bari"

Gianluca Zambrotta, whose biography has made a sharp turn in 1997, has shone with new colors in "Bari". He immediately became a base player and over two years spent 65 matches, scoring eight goals. By that time, everyone could already understand that the 22-year-old defender is a real talent. Naturally, he could not remain in such conditions in the "Bari": the strongest team in Italy "Juventus" offered eight million euros for the player, and in the summer of 1999 Gianluca joined the "old lady".

The game for Juventus

It was Juventus that became a real home for a player like Gianluca Zambrotta, a family, not just a club. Already in the first season he became the player of the base and won the Intertoto Cup. In Juventus he spent seven years playing 294 games and scoring 11 goals. During this time, two victories in the championship of Italy and two Supercups of Italy were added to the Intertoto Cup. Only in 2006, Zambrotta decided to replace the club - he moved abroad, joining the Spanish "Barcelona", laid out for him 14 million euros.

Moving to Barcelona

In the "Barcelona" Zambrotta spent only two years, having played 80 matches and scoring three goals. During this time, the footballer got only one trophy - the Super Cup of Spain. However, it quickly became clear that this was not his club, so Gianluca decided to return home in 2008. The 31-year-old, however, moved not to Juventus, with whom almost all his previous career was linked, but to Milan, which paid for the calling star 10 and a half million euros.

Return to Italy

Back at home, Dzamyurota again played at a fairly high level, during the first two seasons remaining the player of the base. In total, he spent four years in Milan until his contract expired. 102 matches and 2 goals added Gianluca to his account, while he was in Milan, but the club did not renew the contract with the age player, so in the summer of 2012 the football player was left without a club. He trained with his native "Como", whose honorary president he became back in 2007, while he was waiting for proposals from other clubs.

Career coach

In 2013, Zambrotta began work on obtaining a coaching license, and in summer signed a contract with the Swiss club "Chiasso", where he played the role of a player and assistant coach. In autumn, the head coach was fired, so Gianluca became a playing coach and helped the team to escape from relegation. In the summer of 2014, he completed his football career and became a full-fledged coach of "Chiasso", but he did not succeed and was dismissed in the spring of 2015. After a long break in the summer of 2016, he was appointed coach of the Indian club Deli Dainamos. While he led the team at only 16 matches, of which only five ended in victory, and six - a draw.
