In fact, the godfather is Godfather, and the godfather is the godmother of the child. In the past, they were very close to him, practically relatives.

The godparents were given the duty to help the child grow up spiritually and morally. And they were responsible for this before God. Therefore, they were listened to the advice of the kulaks, they were respected people in the family of the child.

In the understanding of the people of those times, "nepotism" was perceived as a spiritual kinship. The godparents were considered intermediaries between God and the child. Today, many do not know who the godfather is, and earlier this word was called a very close person.

In Russia there was a proverb: "Spiritual kinship more than carnal." The church forbade marriages not only between the kings, but also between the kuma - the father of the child, the kum - the mother of the child. And not only in the first, but also in the second generation of families, such connections were not approved.

Those who were brought together by spiritual kinship did not have the right to marry. Because morality was placed above bodily pleasures.

Intimate relationships in spiritual relationship were perceived as "incest". After all, these people, in the rite of baptism before God, renounced the child from Satan. It was believed that having entered into a carnal relationship, they themselves went into the clutches of the devil, and they even dragged the child behind them. But the person is weak, and everything happened. Hence the proverb: "The kum and the godfather are one Satan."

A special role for the godparents was at weddings. They were consulted about choosing a couple, they blessed the young.

Today, few people can guess who the godfather is. But in fact earlier he had worn a cross on the child during the rite of baptism, with which the person did not leave his whole life.

To date, many concepts about morality and spirituality have been distorted or lost their former significance. The institute of nepotism disappeared as superfluous. People of the older generation still remember the echoes of a respectful attitude towards the godparents. But among them, few know exactly who the godfather is. Because at that time very few people were baptized. Moreover, for a long time in our history such a ritual was considered antisocial, was banned.

To date, the erroneous belief that the mother-in-law is the mother-in-law of the mother-in-law is more common, and vice versa. The same is true of the male hierarchy: "Who is the cum?" Dreams always reflect the deep psychological attitudes of man. So, in most of them, the kum is associated with a feeling of vexation, with a scandal. A kuma - with gossip and cunning.

Here, thus, the concept of nepotism that was formerly light in Russia was degraded. But whatever the history of the Russian man was about, the people are fundamentally moral. And believing people are becoming more and more.
