It is the deepest in the world! Well, the name of which sounds in Russian

Get a job in a company that for many years was in charge of the deepest well on Earth, it was very difficult. In the city of Zapolyarny (USSR) in the early eighties of the twentieth century, hundreds of specialists arrived, of which only units remained, who for their qualification immediately received apartments in this city, as well as salaries that exceeded Moscow several times.

Around the peculiar telescope in the inner world of our planet (depth 12,262 km) in those years there were about 16 scientific institutions that studied the extracted samples of rocks, as well as processes occurring at depth. At present, the deepest well in the world is located in Russia, in the Murmansk region (Pechenegsky ore district). Its name officially sounds like "Kola superdeep". The record, once established, and even for scientific purposes, has not yet been broken by any other power.

How was the deepest well in the world exploited? The title tells us that the work was carried out in the peninsula area, which is composed of the oldest rocks on our planet. The equipment used there is not ordinary, as, for example, the drill has a thickness of only 0.2 meters, and at the end it is fixed a lot of devices. It takes a few days to raise and lower the research tool in the well, since the cable can simply break off under its own weight at higher speeds.

What did Soviet scientists find out after they had the deepest well in their world at their disposal? The name of many phenomena that they encountered, has not yet been found. For example, once from the mine, a molten drill was extracted, the melting point of the metal of which is close to the temperatures on the Sun. Another time something was pulling the cable from below. There are legends that the microphone recorded deep sounds like voices from hell, although in reality at such a depth seismic receivers are used that transmit wave patterns of reflection of sound from objects.

In addition to mystical events, many discoveries were made on the Kola superdeep, among which there is evidence that our planet has a structure different from that usually indicated in textbooks. Moreover, the samples of the lunar soil brought by the Soviet lunar rover coincided in their composition with the samples taken from the depth of three kilometers in this mine. This suggests that billions of years ago, the moon broke away from the Earth. Unfortunately, since 1995, work on the Kola superdeep have been stopped. The mine is simply maintained in working order with UN funds.

The current deepest well in the world, whose name is also associated with Russia (the Chayvinskoye field), is essentially not such, since it is not so deep as a long one (12,700 meters, not vertically downward, but at an angle to the surface). Also, the longest objects include the Odoptu-Sea well on Sakhalin, which is 12,345 meters long.

Development at the Chayvinskoye field (Z-42) can now bear the proud title of "the deepest oil well". The second place is occupied respectively by Odoptu-Sea, and the third by the object in Qatar (the Al-Shahin oil basin, length 12,289 meters, the developer of Transocean).
