Is fatigue a disease? How does it manifest and its consequences

The word "fatigue" is familiar to many. A person lives constantly in a cycle: work - fatigue - rest. It is impossible to constantly be in a tonus, the resources of our body are not infinite, so there comes a time when we understand by certain signs that it's time to rest.

Signs of a state of fatigue

Before you find out how this state manifests itself, you need to decide what it means. Fatigue is an experience of a feeling of fatigue in some kind of activity (mental work or physical activity).

When a person is fatigued, the productivity of his intellectual activity is reduced, that is, mental processes are no longer at the pace and quality, as when starting work. Signs of fatigue are manifested in the following:

  • Decreased concentration of attention;
  • The formulation of incorrect judgments or inferences;
  • Distorted information analysis;
  • Deterioration in the quality of the memorization process, and so on.

Physical fatigue is characterized by a violation of the basic functions of the muscles, a decrease in the speed of reactions and movements, and their strength.

The state of loss of strength and reduction of mental activity can arise not only because of prolonged activity. It also arises from the transferred diseases, incorrectly organized labor, when a person is affected by noise, vibration, cold. In this case, it is difficult for a person to do his job, so fatigue appears.

Physical fatigue

When a person works long and monotonously, and his work requires constant muscle tension or work does not bring pleasure, he has physical fatigue. This state can not be confused with anything, since the body's strength is running out. A person with physical fatigue, even if he aspires to do something quickly, then it does not work for him. Such fatigue can also arise as a result of great sports loads, so sports should be practiced without fanaticism. If you do not allow the body to rest, there may be overwork. It is already defined as a pathological condition, entailing a disruption in the functionality of the central nervous system.

Since fatigue is an experience, a person can not but realize what is happening to him. In the case of a decrease in the consistency of the work of muscles, a violation of their rhythm, intensity, and speed, it is necessary to take urgent measures to normalize their condition. After all, not everyone knows what fatigue can turn into.

Consequences of fatigue

Fatigue is not a pathology, but a condition bordering on the disease. With prolonged exertion, absence of a daily regimen, overstrain, there is such a disease as overwork. Many people know this word, but far from everyone understands what disastrous effect this condition has on the body. Exhaustion at the physiological level means a process in which the excitation and inhibition of the nervous system are not balanced, their ratio is disturbed at the level of formation in the cerebral cortex. This phenomenon is very similar to the onset of a neurosis.

Developing chronic illness due to fatigue affects the work of not only individual elements of the nervous system. It can significantly reduce immunity and affect the work of internal organs. How does this happen?

When a person is in a state of chronic fatigue, the body perceives the situation as a strong stressor. In this case, he defends himself by actively working the anterior part of the adrenal glands and their bark. That is, certain hormones are released more than necessary. This causes a failure in the human hormonal sphere. This condition leads to an increase in the rate and volume of basal metabolism and the violation of carbohydrate metabolism. Pathological processes in the metabolism of carbohydrates lower the sugar content in the blood, disrupt the oxidation in cells, which causes a sharp decrease in the tissues of vitamin C.

Productivity of the muscular system with physical fatigue

Excessive stress on the muscles, as well as insufficient rest lead to a violation of the physical functions of the body. Often a person does not even notice what is happening to him. If you notice that:

  • Actions that previously turned out well, now work out with difficulty;
  • There is no desire to perform physical work;
  • There was rapid heart rate, sweating, shortness of breath;
  • Pain in the muscles, muscle fatigue;
  • Poor coordination during the exercises - you are caught on the hook of fatigue.

Ways to restore strength

Fatigue is a process that can be corrected by following certain rules.

  1. Adhere to the established mode of the day.
  2. Interleave physical and mental loads.
  3. Intensive loads can be tolerated only by a trained organism.
  4. Eliminate physical activities associated with overexertion, after the disease.

Restoring will help massage, change of activity, full sleep and rest, proper nutrition, as well as some medications.
