Inhalation with cold

Inhalations in the common cold are therapeutic procedures based on the inhalation of specific medicinal components (substances) through the nose. These manipulations are also used to eliminate the most common manifestations of pathologies in the upper respiratory tract: tonsillitis, bronchitis, pharyngitis.

Inhalations with a cold have an undoubted advantage: inhalation can achieve local optimal effects, while there is no serious strain on other organs.

To achieve the greatest effect of the procedures, you should follow certain rules.

  1. Inhalations in the common cold (as well as with other diseases of the respiratory organs mentioned above) are carried out after a minimum of one hour (and preferably one and a half) after eating, not earlier.
  2. Inhale and exhale the medicinal components through the nose without stress, freely.
  3. For an hour after the inhalation with a cold, it is not recommended to talk, go out, eat and sing.

The most detailed instructions on the proper conduct of procedures will be given by the attending physician, with whom you should consult.

Inhalation solutions can include several elements in their composition. So, for example, for procedures often use a mixture of components such as baking soda, water, mineral herbs, medicinal herbs and some medicines. A combination of eucalyptus tea and peppermint is also popular. In a liter of water, it is sufficient to add three or four drops of the mixture. In pharmacies, you can find ready-made solutions for use in special devices.

Inhalations in the common cold in children should be performed in the absence of pneumonia, edema of the lung or high fever. These conditions are contraindications.

Inhalations in the common cold for children are carried out with extreme caution. Experts recommend using solutions up to 30 degrees for babies. For older children, the optimal temperature of the mixture for inhalation is 30-40 degrees. For the procedures, a cardboard funnel is often used, which is worn on the tip of a kettle. You can use a special inhaler. As a solution, you can use a decoction of thyme, oregano, chamomile, mother-and-stepmother, lavender, sage.

Duration of the procedure is from three to five minutes. The therapeutic course, as a rule, consists of eight or ten procedures.

To prepare a solution for inhalations, you can use the following recipes:

  1. Decoction of pine buds. For cooking, you need two liters of water and three tablespoons of kidney. For the procedure, you should bend over the container with broth, cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam.
  2. Solution with eucalyptus. For the preparation requires a liter of water and eucalyptus leaves (two table spoons). If necessary, the leaves can be replaced with essential oil. In this case, a few drops are added to the hot water and a procedure is carried out.
  3. Infusion of raspberries (leaves) and (calendula) of flowers. To prepare, you need ten grams of calendula (leaves) and 200 milliliters of water. Raspberry infusion is made using twenty grams of raw material per 200 milliliters of water. For inhalation, mix both solutions.
  4. A fairly popular means is mineral water. "Borjomi" or "Narzan" is used most often for inhalations with a cold. Before the procedures, the water must be opened and let it stand. Thus, gases will come out of it.
  5. As a solution for inhalation, a mixture of infusions can be used. The composition can include blackberry broth (leaves and stems) - 20 grams of raw materials per 200 milliliters of water, oak bark (10 g per 200 ml), mother-and-stepmother leaves (15 g per 200 ml). 50-60 ml of the mixture is used for one inhalation.
