Indoor Anthurium flowers
Indoor Anthurium flowers are very beautiful evergreens. There is another name for the anthurium - the "flamingo flower". There was a time when this culture was grown solely because of beautiful flowers, from which it would be possible to make chic bouquets. Today, anthurium is usually grown as a decorative and deciduous plant. At first glance, its flowers may seem plastic due to their unusual structure.
These plants belong to the family of aroids, to which also include diffenbachia, monstera, alocasia, etc. In the wild, there are about 800 species of plants belonging to the genus Anthurium. True, in natural conditions, they tend to prefer to grow in tree branches, on fallen trunks, old stumps and other moist loose substrates. Epiphytic species have roots practically falling to the ground. These features of the natural environment should be taken into account by everyone who grows these indoor flowers.
Anthurium has many decorative forms, which can be divided into the following groups:
- Plants cultivated exclusively to create bouquets of cut flowers. This group of anthuriums has bright green leaves with a large and pointed veil.
- Plants whose leaves have an unusually beautiful pattern.
- Plants with bright green leaves of medium length and high or medium stalk. These include the most common types of anturium: A. Andre and A. Scherzer.
It is not difficult to care for this culture, however, certain rules will still have to be adhered to. For example, indoor flowers anthurium need very good lighting. In some cases, there will be a slight penumbra. But the plant can not be placed directly under direct sun rays , otherwise it will die. In addition, anthurium is considered a heat-loving plant, so the air temperature during its cultivation should not be below +16 degrees, even in winter. From this it follows that the pot with an anthurium should be placed in a bright warm place. In addition, the plant needs constant access to fresh air. However, drafts should be avoided.
No less important is the high humidity of the air, so that the anthurium begins to develop and blossom well. To achieve high humidity in the room is not difficult. It is enough to wipe the leaves with a clean and damp cloth and sometimes spray the air around the crown. And about once a month you can arrange a shower plant, trying not to get water on the flowers. This procedure allows you to refresh the plant and clean its foliage from dust. However, after such a "bath" can not expose the anthurium to sunlight, otherwise in place of droplets of water ugly yellow spots of sunburn are formed.
Watering should be carried out with soft, pre-established water. Do this regularly, but you can not over-moisten the soil. In order to prevent stagnation of water at the roots, it is necessary to take care of good drainage when transplanting the plant.
Despite the fact that indoor flowers anthurium bloom regularly, in some cases, the plant can at one point stop blooming. Flower growers usually do not immediately understand what is the matter, so often on the "flower" forums you can meet the question: "why does the anthurium not bloom?" As a rule, there can be several reasons. One of them is the depletion of the soil, in which the anthurium grows. In this case, the plant needs a transplant to fresh soil or a more spacious pot. After the transplant, the vase with anthurium should be put on a bright place and do not forget to periodically spray and fertilize it.
A healthy blooming anthurium will become a real decoration of any room. It effectively looks both as a tapeworm, and in group floral compositions. Its juicy-green foliage will be beneficial to shade the variegated syngonium, as well as philodendron or other indoor flowers with red leaves.
