Indomethacin Ointment is an effective remedy

People have long suffered from diseases of the joints and bone system. There was always a need for a remedy that would alleviate the pain and improve the overall health of the patients. The need for such patients in an effective drug that can alleviate their life was met with the start of the release of a remedy such as indomethacin ointment.

The active ingredient of this drug is indomethacin. This synthetic element is referred to as indoleacetic acid derivatives. It is practically the most active anti-inflammatory non-steroid drug. This remedy differs from similar substances with pronounced analgesic activity. Indomethacin ointment 10% is available in 40 g tubes.

This drug has remarkable antipyretic, analgesic (analgesic), anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic properties.

Indications for use are such diseases as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, nonspecific infectious polyarthritis, spondillitis, rheumatism, arthritis, edema and inflammation in sprains and fractures, tooth extraction, gouty arthritis (gout), sciatica, neuralgia, Bekhterev's disease.

Indomethacin ointment, the instruction to which contains a complete list of all the diseases for which it is intended, is usually applied to problem areas of the body or joints at least twice a day.

Indomethacin ointment can cause a variety of allergic reactions to the skin. The most frequent manifestations are rashes in the form of hives, swelling, severe itching.

The drug "Indomethacin" is used in the form of other dosage forms. Among them there are capsules and dragees (25 mg), suppositories (50 g). The use of this agent is prescribed for nonspecific polyarthritis, bursitis, gouty arthritis, osteoarthritis, Bechterew's disease, thrombophlebitis, glomerulonephritis.

Indomethacin is taken after meals. Therapeutic course of treatment begins with a daily intake of 25 mg of the drug 2-3 times a day. Depending on the condition of the patient and its tolerability of the drug, the daily dose is increased to 100-150 mg. It is divided into several receptions (3-4). A good result is the use of indomethacin in the form of rectal suppositories. This drug, like other anti-inflammatory drugs, must be taken for a fairly long time. Prematurely interrupted treatment can lead to a relapse of the disease.

Simultaneous reception of this drug with corticosteroids, salicylates, derivatives of pyrazolone is allowed. For relief of gout exacerbation indomethacin is taken three times a day for 50 mg, and for the prevention of exacerbations - 25 mg twice a day.

With the use of this drug, the following side effects are possible: headache, loss of orientation, dizziness, increased drowsiness. Also often there is vomiting, nausea, pain in the podkrydinnoy and epigastric region, loss of appetite. When taking the drug, ulceration of the stomach and gastric bleeding can occur. To reduce the effect on the gastric mucosa, the drug is recommended to be washed down with milk. In case of skin rashes, administration of antihistamines is prescribed.

You can not take indomethacin for ulcer diseases, bronchial asthma, pregnancy, lactation, heart failure.

When using the drug, you must give up active work and driving vehicles, because possible dizziness and drowsiness can lead to unpleasant consequences (accidents, injuries in the workplace).
