Hydrometer АОН-1: characteristics, field of application, use

A hydrometer can measure fluid density. They can be either general purpose or specialized. They are used in various spheres of the national economy. General purpose instruments allow to determine the density of liquids, which is in the range of 700 to 2,000 kilograms per cubic meter. Areometers of general purpose AON-1 are suitable for working with liquid substances, the density of which is from 700 to 1840 kg per cubic meter. This is a universal meter, which is reliable and simple in operation. He is able to cope with all the tasks assigned to him.

The hydrometer is manufactured in accordance with the requirements of GOST 18481-81. The quality of all produced meters is checked at the factory. This test is mandatory. About its results can be learned from the certificate, which is part of a set of general purpose hydrometers AON-1.

When storing and transporting the device, certain conditions must be met. In such situations, the meter should be in an upright position so that the ballast is below. For protection, the hydrometer is placed in a special tube. This will protect him from accidental strikes. Mechanical damage can lead to cracks and, as a result, damage to the ballast.

Scope of measuring instruments

Among the liquids studied by the device, we can distinguish the following:

The device and the principle of operation

Externally, the meter is a tube expanded at the bottom. As a material for its production, glass is used. In the lower (wide) part is ballast. On the surface of the upper (narrow) part, a measuring scale is applied.

The principle of operation is very simple. The meter is lowered into the test liquid. A deeper immersion of the meter into the substance is characteristic of liquids with a lower density. This is taken into account when applying the scale to the tube. The upper part of the scale shows smaller values, and the lower one shows larger values. The density value is determined visually. At the same time, readings are taken from the lower meniscus.

Main factors

Hydrometer AON-1 has small dimensions and weight. Its length is no more than 170 millimeters with a tube diameter of 20 millimeters. The diameter of the rod is 4 millimeters. The scale is applied almost by a quarter of the length of the entire meter. Its length is 44 millimeters.

The scale is applied with a gradation of 1 kilogram per cubic meter. Depending on the possible density of the measured liquids, the hydrometer AON-1 has a large number of modifications. They can be seen in the table in the figure below.

Use the device is recommended at an ambient temperature of 18-22 degrees. When using it under other conditions, it is necessary to make appropriate corrections for temperature changes (to carry out calculation).
