How to make a ring for curtains?

In recent years, more modern and functional eyelets have replaced the heavy and not very comfortable window textiles on hooks. After reading this article, you will find out what the rings are for curtains. It's quite easy to make this kind of decorations yourself. The main nuances of this process will be discussed later.

What are eyelets?

These are special fasteners located at the top of the curtain. They are a combination of two basic elements - a block and rings on the curtains. With the help of eyelets, you can not only thread the window textiles on the cornice, but also attach it with special hooks. Such drapery has a rather voluminous appearance and fits perfectly into almost any interior. The original curtains are very aesthetic and multifunctional. In addition, they can be done independently.

Varieties of eyelets

Today, manufacturers offer consumers large and small rings for curtains, the photos of which will be presented later. Each of these options has a number of characteristic features.

So, small eyelets are recommended to be located a short distance from each other. It is necessary that the canvas better holds the desired shape. When using this option, it is desirable to give preference to light, not too dense tissues.

On large rings on curtains, no additional hooks are needed. They are put directly on the cornice itself. Due to the significant distance between the neighboring eyelets, the canvas will hang down large folds. Therefore, in this case it is advisable to stop the choice of dense heavy matter.

Required Tools

To make the rings on the curtains with your own hands, you should stock up in advance with all the necessary materials and devices. To make such a window decor you will need the following tools:

  • The cloth.
  • Pins.
  • S-shaped hooks.
  • Eyelets and special retainers.
  • Fittings and tape for rings.

In addition, you need to take care in advance that at hand were small weights for folds and cornice barbell. As for the amount of fabric, it is calculated for each specific case.

Small eyelets

To make small rings for curtains, you must first cut out the details of the appropriate size. The upper part of the cloth is twice bent and smoothed with an iron. It is desirable to do these manipulations not only from the front, but also from the wrong side. Aligning the upper bend, you need to cut off excess fabric. This will shorten the length of the curtain to the first fold. After that, you can sew a bend and thoroughly iron all the seams.

At the second stage, you should retreat a couple of centimeters from the edge and mark the location of the future location of the eyelets. It is important that the distance between adjacent elements does not exceed twenty-five centimeters. After that, you can fix the eyelets in accordance with the instructions attached to them and put the rings on the curtains in the pre-cooked hooks.

Another option

This method is optimal for large eyelets. If your curtain consists of two halves, you can fold them together so that the outer side is on top. This simple manipulation will greatly facilitate and speed up the process. Having located a tape with eyelets, it is necessary to measure 7,5 centimeters from edge. After that, it remains only to gently cut off excess tissue from the sides.

After this, a bend is made in the lower part of the curtains. Its width should correspond to the size of the entire stock. Then the bend is carefully ironed and unfolded inside out so that the bottom cut is exactly the same as the marked line. To create beautiful folds, it is recommended to fasten special weighting at the bottom. In addition, these weights can be sewed into the pockets of the bend.

Turning the bottom of the part, they make a double gate. To secure it, use pins or hidden seams. To the upper part of the curtains, attach a tape with eyelets and fix it along the entire length.

By unfolding the lateral bends, in the lower part we place the weighed weights in advance and process it all with hidden seams. A tape with fasteners is inserted behind the upper gate and fixed with threads. After that, you need to remove excess fabric, located inside each ring.

Then the curtain is laid out on a flat and perfectly flat surface. To camouflage slices and crumbling threads, it is necessary to close the eyelets with special decorative inserts.

At the final stage, the curtain is folded "accordion". Thanks to this you will be able to achieve the formation of beautiful folds. After that, all the eyelets are threaded onto the rod of the eaves and hung on the window opening. It is important to evenly distribute drapery. In the same way, you can install not only metal, but also plastic rings.
