How to cook coconut syrup at home?

Dense, aromatic, with a rich taste of coconut syrup can be a pleasant addition and a highlight of any dessert. It can be added to baked goods, to ice cream, to use for impregnating biscuit cakes. On the basis of coconut syrup, delicious cocktails are prepared for adults and children. You can prepare them at home using the available ingredients. And if you did not manage to buy ready-made coconut syrup, then do not get upset. It can be easily prepared at home.

Coconut syrup from coconut juice

Most of the known syrups are prepared on the basis of fruit juice and water with sugar, cooked to a thick consistency. The sugar content in them can reach 80%. The more it is used, the thicker the finished syrup is. Similarly, coconut syrup is prepared. It has a light color, from milky to creamy, a thick consistency characteristic of the coconut aroma.

For the preparation of coconut syrup, the following ingredients are required:

  • Coconut juice (from 1 coconut);
  • Sugar - 350 g;
  • Water - 200 ml.

Step by step cooking:

  1. Water is poured into the pan and sugar is poured out.
  2. The contents of the pan are brought to a boil and cooked over medium heat to a thick consistency. The foam that forms on the surface will need to be removed periodically.
  3. Using a corkscrew, make holes in the coconut and pour all coconut juice into a saucepan with syrup.
  4. Cook the syrup for 2 more minutes, then remove the pan from the fire.

This coconut syrup has a light aroma and taste. To prepare a more saturated syrup instead of a single coconut juice, you can use liquid from two or three fruits and evaporate it a little longer, or take milk or shavings.

Coconut syrup at home from chips

One of the most accessible ways of making syrup is to use coconut chips instead of juice. This ingredient, unlike coconut, can be purchased at any store. Using the shavings, at home you can make a very delicious coconut syrup.

The recipe for its preparation is as follows:

  1. In the saucepan pour the water (250 ml), add sugar (250 g) and coconut shavings (150 g).
  2. Put the dishes on the fire and bring the contents to a boil.
  3. Remove the stewpan from the fire and set it aside, covered with a lid, for several hours.
  4. After 3-4 hours, the mass should become thick, as if there is absolutely no liquid in it. However, this is not at all the case.
  5. Discard the coconut mass on a sieve and strain the cooked syrup. You can also use gauze, folded in several layers.
  6. As a result, from such a quantity of ingredients, 200 ml of a delicious coconut syrup with a rich taste will be obtained.

Recipe for syrup from coconut milk

Coconut milk is very popular among vegetarians and is added to most vegan dishes. Buy it today you can not only in specialized stores, but also in ordinary supermarkets.

A syrup of coconut milk is prepared as follows:

  1. First, you need to prepare all the ingredients for the syrup: coconut milk - 250 ml, water - 100 ml, sugar - 125 g. Of this amount, about 400 ml of syrup will be obtained.
  2. Prepared ingredients are sent to the stewpan with a thick bottom, bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes.
  3. Hot coconut syrup pour into a sterile glass jar or bottle and close the lid. Store in a dark place for 2 months.

Such syrup can be served to pancakes, fritters, cheese cakes or used for making cocktails.

Coconut milk at home

Coconut milk for syrup can not only be bought in the store, but also made independently at home. There are two ways to do this.

In the first case, coconut is used as the basis. It is combined with water or milk in equal proportions and cooked over low heat for 2 minutes. About two hours the mass should be infused, after which it can be filtered through a sieve or gauze. The result is real coconut milk. Then it can be used in other recipes, for example, to make coconut syrup.

The second option for preparing coconut milk is to whisk in a blender the pulp of fresh coconut along with the juice. The liquid obtained in this way is also filtered through a sieve, and then it is poured into a sterile jar and sent to storage in a refrigerator.

Drinks with coconut syrup

In addition to alcoholic cocktails, which adults prefer to prepare, coconut syrup can make a very tasty and healthy drink for children. To make it in a blender, mix coconut syrup (30 ml), peach (20 ml) and pineapple juice (100 ml), ice cream (50 g) and a ripe banana. As a result of whipping, a homogeneous, tasty and beautiful cocktail is obtained. As a decoration before serving it can be decorated with whipped cream.
