The InternetWeb design

How long does it take to create a website?

Let's find out how much time it takes to develop a new project from scratch.

To begin with, you need to understand that the development time is a fairly complex parameter, floating and depending on a dozen factors.

Often on the Internet, you can see ads that promise to make an excellent site "for 1 day!" And almost for nothing. Such advertising usually bribes with its "assurance". On the sites that give them, you can find dozens of relatively good projects in the portfolio, thank you letters from Gazprom, then from Railways and other beautiful pictures. In this tale, of course, I want to believe, but do not forget that, as Ostap Bender said, "soon only cats will be born." In the site building business, this statement is quite appropriate, because creating a quality, convenient and stylish website is a gradual process, requiring effort, both from the developer and the customer. Here it is worth noting that all customers are different, and you need to be ready for this. After all, the request to do "somehow, so it was beautiful" the customer will almost certainly receive "something that looks pretty." It is this moment of interaction, the development of a unified vision of the project, between the customer and the developer, and is usually the "speed limiter" of the site creation. I want to immediately note the main points of contact between the two sides.

The first point of contact is the joint development of a technical task (TOR). Of course, the customer is not obliged to understand the intricacies of creating TK, and even more so to compose it. However, when approving the versions of TK provided by the developer, you need to carefully approach the display in it of all your ideas and requirements to the site. At the same time, it should be done as quickly as possible, because before the signing of the TOR, the developer technically can not begin to create the site.

The second point of contact is the content (information provided on your resource). This moment often puts many customers into a stupor. After all, with all the haste in the creation and launch of the site, it is often overlooked that the developer delves into the subtleties of the customer's business in order to release a highly effective product, but not to structure and disassemble the content coming in for filling. This is quite logical: a programmer or content manager, for example, can not fill out the sections "Contacts" or "About the company" without the customer's direct involvement. Here all the data should be provided by the client. And it is desirable that all the content was ready before the development of the site. In this case, the delay in the delivery of the project will be excluded.

The third point of contact is the coordination of the site design. It is extremely important responsibility on the part of the customer. This does not mean that you need to agree with everything that the developer provided with the words "And so will come down!". Not at all. Of course, it is necessary to check whether everything is taken into account, what was the agreement at the stage of signing TK, express their wishes or doubts. All this will help designers to make the product ideally suited to the customer's desire. But coordination requires promptness and thoughtfulness. After all, corrections can be made in months - the desire for excellence is unlimited, but you need to understand that there is a kind of golden mean, when further polishing the design will give a tiny positive result, in comparison with the negative, which will delay the development of the site. The best way to communicate with e-mail. After all, in this case, the possibility of mutual claims of the parties is virtually excluded due to the free interpretation of certain aspects of the working dialogue.

In the case of prompt and responsible work of the customer in all three of the above points, you can expect to complete the creation of the site at the time specified by the developer, and maybe even earlier.

And now, when we examined the main pitfalls of the development process, let's return to the question of reasonable timing.

  • Promo-site (landing page) - from 10 working days.
  • Site-card - from 20 working days.
  • Site-catalog - from 30 working days.
  • Online store (without integration and filling of goods) - from 35 working days.
  • Corporate portal - from 60 working days.

The specified terms are observed, if the customer has prepared all the content in advance, and the period of coordination of each stage is not more than one day.

I want to emphasize once again the moment that this is a reasonable time for the development of a site with an individual design. Naturally, you can make the resource faster, but at the same time, the loss of quality becomes most tangible. It is necessary to understand that the team of creatives and programmers needs a certain amount of time to get into all the subtleties of the project and create a truly high-quality product. Qualitative sites for you and bona fide developers!
