How is the GUR fluid replaced?

Unfortunately, many motorists do not pay enough attention to the fluid status for the power steering. However, it is important to regularly check its level and color. The replacement of the fluid by the GUR is necessary in the following situations:

• If repairs have been made related to the replacement or installation of the steering gear.
• If the car has traveled more than 20-25 thousand kilometers since the last replacement.
• If the liquid has become turbid or strongly changed color.
• If there are strange noises when turning the rudder.

How is the GUR fluid replaced?

First of all, all the used hydraulic fluid is drained.

For this purpose you will need:

1. Special capacity, because Oil for GUR - not such an inoffensive substance. It is very important to ensure that the liquid does not get on the skin, clothes and body of the machine.

2. A hose with which the used oil will be drained into the container.

Manipulation occurs when the ignition is switched on (so that the steering is possible), after the engine has cooled slightly.

First you need to raise the tank and disconnect the return hose. In its place, connect the prepared hose and lower one end of it into the container. Next, you need to start the car and repeatedly turn the steering wheel in different directions (until the stop) until the tank is empty. Now muffle the engine and fill in the new oil.

GUR fluid replacement: what needs to be considered?

Use only those products recommended by manufacturers. Do not believe the vendors' claims that there are universal fluids that are suitable for any car. On the label of each tool there is information on the tolerances. If you do not see a recommendation for using a specific oil in your car, cancel the purchase.

When the oil is completely dissolved, you must flush the tank and, if necessary, clean the entire system. Then - pour new oil.

Also note that a 100% replacement of GUR fluid is not possible. Still a little old oil remains in the system. Therefore, it is desirable to use the same agent. If you do not know which fluid is plugged into the power steering, flush the tank and the system with special tools.

If the GUR fluid periodically "leaves"

If the oil level for the GUR periodically decreases, check the integrity of the reservoir. If it is damaged or cracked, it is better to replace it. If the GUR fluid "leaves" relatively slowly, do not rush to sound the alarm and think about what the rake is flowing or whether the omentum has been knocked out. Perhaps over time some hoses have worn out. To begin with, try using an airtight sealant. It can be used as an independent oil for GUR, and as an additive. This tool allows you to eliminate small leaks, reduces friction between parts and allows you to extend the life of the power steering system. Of course, all these effects are possible only with strict observance of the instructions for use and all the recommendations of the car manufacturer.
