How many significant people in the world cinema acted in defense and support of the "original cinema", crashing into emotional accusations against some investors who are only remakes for popular old movies for one benefit! All these attempts to "go to the barricades and save the cinematography from the abyss" did not bring absolutely any results, the number of studios stamping the "secondary product" increased several times. The reason for this phenomenon is very trivial - the benefit. After all, to remove the film according to the original script is very troublesome, and risky. But investing in a remake of a famous painting is another matter. Gradually, the charter to retake and adapt Japanese horror films, American filmmakers paid attention to their own movie masterpieces. And the 2005 film The House of Waxes is the third remake of the film "The Mystery of the Wax Museum" (1933), and the "Wax Museum" (1953) directed by André de Toth. And also the E. Hikoks film "The Wax Museum", released in 1988. Incidentally, the last film was transformed from horror into a comedy of horrors with elements of fantasy. Strange thing, remake of a remake! Horror or still slasher?

Perhaps such popularity of themes is explained by the director's sublimation of his fears towards them. And if you consider that the audience was ineradicable and always in demand, there is and will be an interest in any psychopaths and maniacs, traditionally right and left "crumbling" a group of unfortunate teenagers, then the revival of the old plot in the new shell of the horror "The House of Wax Figures" becomes understandable. In the end, the creators exaggerated the idea somewhat, they did not limit themselves to the house as the main place of development of events, but it was this that made it possible to diversify the action that was taking place. A long introduction, which, in fact, has no special significance and is cleverly diluted by intriguing moments. It is in the prologue and there is an acquaintance with the main characters, an understanding of their characters and motivation of actions. To which genre should you include the movie "House of Wax"? Horror, of course, still a thriller - there is no doubt about it. Nevertheless, and it must be admitted, he looks more like an inexorable slasher. At the same time, the picture is almost not like the atmosphere of its previous reincarnation. Maybe because it looks more modern and stylish. Such thoughts come to mind, it is only necessary to view the trailer. "House of wax figures" is intriguing, keeps in suspense, to watch without empathy for the misadventures of the main characters is simply impossible.

"House of wax figures" can definitely be called the most frightening, bloody and sinister remake of the old horror film "The Mystery of the Wax Museum". The film turned out to be quite unusual, lovers of slasher horror movies are sure to like it.
