House blindness as an important element of construction

The inclined track, which you see along the perimeter of the walls of any structure, is called a blind area.

The blind area of the house, first of all, is designed for high-quality diversion of flood water from its walls and foundations. Also, it does not allow the germination of plants, trees, shrubs near them, which have a negative effect on the foundation, which often leads to the formation of cracks on it and even to its subsidence.

The blind area of the house with their own hands is held before the beginning of the work on the facade and foundation lining. As already mentioned, it is performed along the perimeter of the structure with a slope of 1.5-2% (at 50 cm width of 10 mm). Its width depends on the protruding roof eaves and the type of soil. Typically, the blind area of the house has a width of 60-80 cm with the condition that its width is 20 cm more than the projection of the roof eaves. If the structure is on a subsidence ground, it is necessary to build it not only with a larger width, but also with a large degree of gradient (5 °). Carrying a bias, you do not need to overdo it, as the larger the ramp, the more the area of the house will be less beautiful and less comfortable. After all, it takes not the last place in the overall design of the building and can also be used as a footpath.

There are many options for its replenishment. We will focus on the two most common: it is a blind area of the house with the use of concrete and paving slabs. So, for the device of a blind area of any kind, first of all it is necessary to remove a layer of soil, which will interfere with further work. We dig a ditch of the required depth, which depends on the type of soil, we remove the remains of different roots. The use of special herbicides at this stage of construction will prevent further sprouting in this place of vegetation, which can lead to blasting of the blind area. After the ditch is ready, compaction of all its layers is carried out by ramming (do not forget at the same time about the gradient). The first is the underlying layer, the components of which are clay and sand. The layers of these materials should be at least 10 cm in a compacted form. The second is a drainage layer, which is made of crushed stone, the grain composition and fractions of which affect its thickness. It is also affected by the appearance of the next, third layer of the blind area, which is called the final one. According to the classics, because of the low cost, cement mortar is used as a finishing coat . It must be taken into account that when using it for the finish layer during the hardening of the solution, it is necessary to periodically wet it with water. To do this, you can use a wet sack, hay or wet straw. This is done to improve the durability of the blind area. In order to make it more effective, it is necessary to build a drainage system along the entire perimeter, this can be a conventional concreted groove (10-15 cm), which will serve to drain from the water blind.

In the finishing layer, also the piece materials are used. Sidewalk tile is one of the most common types of these building materials. Such blind area around the house, the price of which will depend on the cost of paving slabs, colorfully allocate the building and give it an aesthetic highlight.
