Honda Steppagon: specifications, photos and reviews

Honda StepWagon (Honda StepWGN) - is a compact minivan, which stands out for its relatively small size and, surprisingly, quite good capacity. Unlike its classmates ("Odyssey" and "Stream"), "Stepvagon" is able to accommodate 8 people and is an excellent means of transportation for family travel. First time seeing the light in 1996, the minivan has already undergone 4 generations of generations. At the moment, the Honda plant produces the fifth generation of the car, which is very popular all over the world.

First generation

As mentioned above, the first generation of Honda Steppagon, the technical characteristics of which allowed it to compete with minivans produced by other automakers, was launched on the market in May 1996 and immediately became very popular among buyers. It was due to the fact that the car manufacturer's pricing policy was flexible and competitive at that time, so at a relatively low price it was possible to buy a car with a five- or eight-seat layout, a flat floor due to the front drive and excellent interior space.

In the salon led four doors, two of which were in front, one was sliding and was intended for passengers to enter the salon, and the rear swung open like a gate. In the eight-seat layout, the middle row of seats could be rotatable, allowing passengers to face-to-face, or comfortable non-rotating seats could be used for comfortable rest. The engines of the Honda "Steppeagon" car of the first generation were equipped with a gas distribution system DOHC, and the transmission was a four-speed automatic. There were variants with a full drive.

The second generation

After five years of production, the company Honda decided to update the sensational minivan, and in 2001 the second generation of the Stepvagon was introduced to the public. The main difference from the previous model was the changed appearance, which looked much more modern, but at the same time still square. Until 2003, only one type of engine was put on the Honda Steppe Car of the second generation, namely a two-liter in-line unit paired with automatic transmission and two types of drive.

It is worth noting that it was more powerful than its predecessors (160 hp vs. 135) and, accordingly, had better returns. But in the end, it was decided to equip the minivan with another engine, namely K24A with a capacity of 2.4 liters with a power (162 hp), but with a significant increase in torque. Plus, all the processing was subjected to transmission, which became a five-speed, but still remained automatic.

The third generation

In 2005, the oldest design was replaced by the third generation of the Honda Honda STEPVAGON, the characteristics of which changed significantly in relation to the previous version. The design was generally reminiscent of what minivan was before, but became more elegant and impetuous. Among the innovations of appearance, it is possible to note the friendly "smiling" radiator grille, the ascending window-sill, paired with a steep vyshtampovkoy on the belt and elegant door handles that have been combined.

Changes have also been made to the dimensions of the body, as for a more comfortable ride it was decided to shorten it and make a little lower. The interior of the car has become more spacious, and the interior decoration has been carefully reworked. The main changes in the cabin of the Honda Honda Steppagon touched the dashboard and the center console. In the latter, depending on the configuration, could fit a radio with a touch screen or a full display of a multimedia system, allowing you to monitor the status of any car assembly and even watch DVD movies. In the most expensive versions behind these devices there was a special controller that allowed to control any electronic option of the car.

The fourth generation

The autoconcern has behaved in a rather unusual way, creating the fourth generation of the Honda Steppe car, a photo of which can be seen below, in the body of a taller and longer body (it is noteworthy that earlier these dimensions changed in the smaller direction). The fact is that changes have touched the size of the cabin - it has become much more roomy and comfortable.

The main feature was the ability to fold the rear (third) row of seats under the floor of the car. In this case, the benefits are more than obvious. Of the engines there was only one - a two-liter "rower" R20A, which in the front-drive version was configured with a variator box, and in the all-wheel drive - a five-speed automatic transmission. Production and sales of the fourth generation of Honda Steppagon lasted 3 years (from 2012 to 2015), after which a new and last generation appeared.

Fifth generation

The last version of the minivan does not externally differ from its predecessor. The body slightly changed the exterior trim, becoming even more streamlined and elegant. In the cabin, there was almost no change. The only thing that the engineers' hand has touched thoroughly is the power unit. The large in-line "four" in volume of 2 liters was replaced by a more compact "one and a half" with a turbo-supercharging and i-VTEC system.

According to the manufacturers, the output of the smaller engine with the turbine is practically the same as that shown by the 2.4-liter K24A. In any case, the new L15B produces 150 liters. from. And is one of the most economical compact turbo engines. The drive capabilities have not changed - 2WD and 4WD respectively.

Honda Steppagon: repair

As for the maintenance of Honda vehicles, the old models have always been practical, and the market to this day is full of spare parts of Japanese origin and substitutes. If you touch the first and second generations, then due to their mass character, all the disassembly in Russia and the near abroad are simply filled with the spare parts of this model. But when the conversation is about newer variants, namely "Stepvagon" 3-5 generations, then you will have to sweat the search for details, and the prices will not be the lowest. In any case, the mass character of such cars is falling in the Russian Federation at the present time, since the import of a car with a right-hand drive is forbidden, and it is necessary to look for spare parts abroad.

The Japanese have always been famous for their excellent cars, which meet all the requirements of safety, comfort and reliability. Yes, and the first generation of "Stepvagon" is still in large numbers can be found throughout the post-Soviet space. After all, there is no place where an all-wheel-drive version of the beautiful, roomy and multifunctional family minivan would not be useful.
