History of the skirt

Many of today's fashionable things have their own interesting, and sometimes fun story of creation. We do not always think about it, buying these or other things, but, nevertheless, this knowledge will not interfere.

A special sign of sexuality and femininity is, of course, a skirt. Appearing in the 15th century, it has always remained an indispensable subject of the women's wardrobe. The history of the skirt creation dates back to the ancient centuries. This happened even when the clothes were not divided into female and male. Her origin is due to loincloths, which served to cover the intimate places. Many designers consider praline models of skenti skirts, aprons that were worn in ancient Egypt.

The history of the creation of the skirt and its modifications refers to the times of Mycenae and ancient Crete. During this period, there are cardinal changes in the appearance of this garment, variations begin to appear, representing a set of frills and wedges, and their sewing is done in separate strips.

Studying the main stages of the formation and development of fashion, you can find information that five centuries ago the skirt appeared in the women's wardrobe and became an independent garment. The history of the skirt in the 15-16 centuries is the creation of a large number of different models for the female. Tailors have separated from her bodice, and the product itself was decorated with frills and other elements of decor. It was also the time of the creation of the train, which since then has been found in the clothing of all historical periods and has come down to our days.

Spain is a trendsetter, and the history of the skirt in this country deserves special attention. The first models were sewn using metal or wooden hoops on a dense cover. At the waist they were narrow and widened to the bottom. In those days, when the first models were created, no one yet knew about any sewing equipment. Later the fashion skeleton skirts appeared in Germany. In France there is a history of the skirt. In this country, all models, from the very first, were light and airy.

In the 17th century, the history of the skirt on the skeleton ends, but for a short while, as this thing simply goes out of fashion. In place of direct models come with tails or drapery on the sides. The original samples were also skirts on the figures (flexible metal plates assembled in a frame). This invention appeared in the 18th century.

The methods of coloring the fabric in those days were very simple, but despite this, the woman had the opportunity to choose the pattern or color of clothes to her liking. The 18th century is an era of luxury, which can be traced in the objects of the wardrobe. In the fashion there are skirts with a hair cover or crinoline. Over time, they improve, become more direct, they are decorated with an additional cloth and folds with bows. Paul Poiret introduces into fashion in 1913 the models narrowed downwards.

A constantly changing fashion introduces new ideas, which for a period of time become popular. For example, in the 20th century, corsets were abolished, the length of dresses and skirts decreased markedly. Thanks to the world-famous Coco Chanel, pleated and elegant models of medium length appear in fashion, in which various inserts are successfully sewn. After World War II, tweed suits appear in the fashion, the kit of which includes a narrow skirt.

Mary Quant in 1965 went the furthest on the issue of length reduction, and with her participation there were mini models, "pencils", "tulips", shortened with flounces. All of them still exist and allow to look a woman sensually, gently and gracefully.

A new fashionable detail in the women's wardrobe was the lower skirt. She was appreciated by the ladies, calling the tribute to femininity. The lower skirt took an honorable place among delicate linen, thanks to the fact that it is so easy to emphasize femininity and sexuality.
