Head of the class: who is it and what are its responsibilities?

The article tells about who is the head of the class, what are his duties, what criteria are chosen and how to become one.

Elective office

At all times, in all communities and collectives, there was a need for the leadership of one person who was the senior (not necessarily by age) and solved certain issues relating to the entire collective as a whole. The need for this has survived in our time. In this case, the head of the school class is a student who is an intermediary between the rest of the children and the superior "boss" (teachers, director, etc.). Obligations of it are clearly defined in the school's charter and may vary slightly, but usually such a document is rarely resorted to.

The meaning of this action is in simplifying the interaction between teachers and students. After all, a person who is "his" in a team is much easier to convey certain ideas and needs, as well as engage in various organizational and social activities. It is worth noting that there is no advantage or privilege over other children of the head of the class, and if there are such thoughts, they very soon pass, because it is responsible, including for the actions of other members of the team. And besides his studies, he needs to engage in other activities, from which other students are released by definition.

So what is included in his duties and how is the head of the class generally chosen?

Selection

Since there are certain duties on the starost, it must be a responsible student. Simply put, a hooligan and dvoechnik for such a position will not be elected and will not be appointed. As a rule, this is a person with a good performance in most subjects, who wants to engage in social work. And the last point is very important, they can not forcefully appoint to this post, a person should be interested in such activities, and the duties of a class leader may run counter to personal interests and take away free time.

The choice is made either by a general vote for the nominated students, or by the direct appointment of a class teacher. But sometimes it also happens that there are no volunteers at all, and then it can be imposed by force, contrary to the charter. Naturally, such coercion is reflected in activities - the pupil of the duties of the head of the class performs reluctantly and poorly. But such cases are infrequent, because almost always want to take this post are. But what is their duty and what do they do?

Duties

The headman solves various organizational issues and directs public activities of the class. For example, appoints the attendants, collects money for gifts for various holidays or travel tickets for students. Also, his activity includes mandatory control of attendance - marking those present at lessons and truants, and if there is a good reason - providing evidence to teachers.

In Soviet times, when this position was of higher importance, the headman also supervised the progress of schoolchildren - he chided the two-year-olds and assigned additional tasks to them or dealt with them himself.

What makes the class superior still? For example, it organizes extra-curricular activities, such as going to museums, walking, visiting veterans of the Second World War, helping needy old people and the poor. This person makes a plan for school concerts, speeches and other events.

The Legacy of the USSR

As already mentioned, such activities were particularly widespread in the years of the USSR, and this post was more respected. All the best students wanted to become the starost, they were respected by both pupils and teachers. It can not be said that in our time, the attitude towards them has changed, but still now children are not particularly eager to take this post, since the importance of public and collective work has greatly decreased.

This post is found only in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union.

Attitude

The attitude to the elder was always somewhat ambivalent, as before, and now. On the one hand, due to the fact that he controls attendance, he is not very fond of truants, and if it does not work out, the dislike only grows stronger. But on the other hand, after taking such a position, he frees other students from a number of additional work, and for that he is respected. A person can also be removed from this position in case of inadequate performance of duties or abuse of his status.

So we figured out what the class star should do.

The Institute

Headmen are also in student groups, their activities are not very different from school - all the same control of attendance, organizational issues and so on. But with the difference that the cases at the institute are more important and "adult" in nature.
