Handset for doorphone - individual access limiter

Nowadays, people try to ensure their safety by any available means. It's scary to live knowing that you are not protected in any way. The majority of apartment thefts result from the fact that any person can enter the entrance of an ordinary house without hindrance. And then - the matter of technology. To prevent this from happening, for some time, the entrance doors to the houses are equipped with special devices, through which tenants can decide for themselves who to let into the entrance. Such a device is called an intercom. It consists of four main parts: the call block, the intercom, the lock and the key. The doorphone is an integral part of any intercom system. It allows you to establish contact between the visitor and the owner of the apartment. In addition to the possibility of communication, the handset is equipped with elements that give it additional features:

• A light indicator that indicates that a signal has arrived through the system;
• Lever, which allows to disconnect the subscriber unit;
• A sound call signal ;
• The volume control of the bell;
• Device for selecting ringing tones.

The doorphone is usually installed in the subscriber's apartment and is fixed on the wall at the entrance door. An intercom is installed at a height of not more than one and a half meters from the floor level.

Variety of constructions

Depending on the type of intercom, audio and video intercoms are distinguished. The first option allows you to communicate with the guest at a distance and, if necessary, use the special button to open the front door to the entrance. The second type of doorphone has a screen, through which you can conduct hidden surveillance with the help of an external video camera. On the monitor you can see the visitor and part of the space in front of the camera, depending on the viewing angle. The handset for the doorphone is present in both devices. In practice, mainly analogue and digital intercom systems are used. There is also a separation according to the principle of connection of the call block to the subscriber: coordinate-matrix and direct addressing. The second option provides for a separate button with an apartment number on the call panel. This is why the first option is more often used for apartment buildings. In some cases, the handset for a doorphone of a system may be interchangeable.

Right to choose

When installing the intercom system in the entrance or other room, the intercoms are already bundled with the rest of the equipment. The customer only has to choose the type of communication: audio or video, a conventional model or an apparatus with additional capabilities. An important role here is the cost of equipment. Everything will depend on the chosen system, the producer country and the supplier. When installing the system in an apartment building, the number of apartments in the entrance plays an important role, since the total cost of the installation will be proportionally divided between users. There are cases when one of the neighbors does not have time to connect with everyone. In this case, the service organization can perform the installation of the subscriber unit. The cost for the tenant in this case will be slightly higher, since additional technical work is required. During operation, the doorphone itself sometimes breaks down. The replacement price in this case will include the cost of the device and the service of the wizard to install it and verify the operability.

Convenience and comfort

The handset for the intercom is the subject with which you have to repeatedly contact during the day. That's why you need to carefully approach the issue of choosing a personal subscriber device. It should be as convenient and functional as possible. For example, the lever for turning off the sound signal is very useful for elderly people and mothers with young children. With it, you can easily turn off the sound of your device, and no one outside can disturb you until the signal is turned back on. Sometimes a standard melody can cause negative emotions and create a kind of discomfort. This problem can easily be solved with the help of a special device that will allow you to choose a signal that pleases the owner.
