Gyaur is wrong. Who are the giaours?

The diversity of cultures leads to the fact that many words turn out to be incomprehensible or misinterpreted. For example, "gyaur" is an insult or something else? Why is this word pronounced with such different intonations? Do Muslims really hate giaour and want to kill everyone?

Origin and meaning of the word

According to the dictionaries, "gyaur" is the contemptuous name of all those who do not profess the Muslim faith. Without contemptuous connotation, this would sound like "kafir" (or "kafir"). Linguists did not agree on this word: some believe that it comes from the Turkish "gâvur", others consider it simply a spoiled version of the concept of "kafir".

Finding out what gyaur is and why it is so called, it is better to accept the etymological commonality of both concepts. So, the person who made the so-called kufr (unbelief) is one of the most serious sins, according to Islamic dogmas. Different Muslim currents differently interpret kufr and refer it to either unforgivable deeds or leave it to the judgment of Allah.

Categories of infidels

If to argue in a simplified way, then the gyaur is any non-Muslim who does not recognize Allah as the only true God. At the same time, among them the so-called "people of the Scripture" stand out, among whom are Jews, Christians and Sabies. That is, they are infidels who rely on the Torah, the Gospel and the Psalter in their religion. Despite the fact that they do not recognize Allah, the Quran directly prohibits faithful Muslims from persecuting them and encroaching on their lives, health and property. However, the radical currents of Islam refute this, relying on some fatwas that proclaim the people of Scripture the worst infidels - they know the truth, but reject it.

Understanding the difficult question of who such giaours are, it is worth remembering that radical trends in Islam tend to grow. Any young religion necessarily passes a stage of intolerance to the infidels, up to the desire to destroy all.

How is giauram living?

If we rely solely on the Koran as the main sacred book of Muslims, then we can live well in a Muslim state without accepting Islam. A Muslim can have family and business connections with people of the Scripture, men can marry women from this category. But an orthodox Muslim woman has no right to marry a giaur, this is considered a serious apostasy. This is easily explained by patriarchal logic. If the husband is a Muslim, then he will certainly save his wife from the punishment of Allah, he can transmit it to the bosom of true faith. But the spouse-kafir necessarily pushes the unfortunate Muslim woman out of the way of truth, because a woman must obey a man.

Nevertheless, there are people who are ready to live in peace with the rules established in Muslim society. Many people have to move to Muslim countries because of work and for other reasons. Undoubtedly, in the case of the radicalization of society, this threatens with obvious problems, but moderate Muslims who reasonably and carefully relate to their faith, usually with benevolent patience regard the Gentiles on the condition that they do not attempt to offend their faith. A perfect example of the mutual cooperation of Christians and Muslims took place during the riots in Egypt, when Christians were guarding against Muslims who sent evening prayers from hooligan attacks. For their part, Muslims respectfully regard the convergence of the Holy Fire in Jerusalem and stop any attempts at unrest during this holiday, honoring Christ as one of the prophets of Allah.
