In a small village called Plakhino, on April 13, in 1883, a boy named Sasha was born into a family of peasants. When he was 8 years old, he moved with his parents to permanent residence in St. Petersburg. In the same year he sang in the choir of the Kazan Cathedral. In 1897 Alexander became a pupil of the singing chapel at the court, which he graduated in 1900-th year. Under the guidance of the outstanding conductor A. Arkhangelsky, Alexandrov learned the basics of musical art.

After that, he continued his studies at the conservatory in St. Petersburg, but, unfortunately, was forced to leave his studies due to illness and a difficult financial situation. In 1902, the future outstanding composer, choirmaster, conductor and teacher moved to Bologoye and began to work there as a regent of the church choir, as well as a teacher of choral art in the technical and railway technical schools.

In 1906 Aleksandrov Alexander Vasilievich (photo of those years on the right) moved to the city of Tver, organized there a music school, which he successfully directed, while working as a choirmaster. Already in 1909 the composer was able to continue his education at the conservatory in Moscow. In 1913, he received a diploma about its graduation by composition class, and already in 1916 - by singing class.

In 1918, Alexander was invited to the Conservatory in Moscow to teach there musical and theoretical subjects. Within four years he became a professor.

In 1928, Alexandrov organized the first ensemble of Red Army songs and dances and in October of the same year he gave the first concert in the Red Army Central House of Music. Twelve musicians who performed patriotic songs had a huge success with the audience. Since then, they began to tour many countries abroad.
