Garden path of concrete with their own hands: manual, reviews, photos. Composition of concrete for garden paths

Every owner of a garden or country house wants to build an original garden path on the site. At the same time, there is a desire to fulfill it with minimal costs. Independently it is possible to make stone, brick footpaths.

Also an excellent solution to the problem is a garden path made of concrete. With its own hands it is easy to perform, you can decorate it in your own way and save on the cost of materials and work.

Types of garden paths

In order for the path to fit organically into the surrounding landscape, it is necessary to choose the material from which it will be made, corresponding to the design and style of the yard and the house. In addition, such a foundation should be durable, practical and not demanding to care.

Tracks can be divided into the following types:

  • Ground, paved (cobblestone),
  • Crushed stone,
  • Herbal,
  • Gravel,
  • Clinker (brick),
  • Stone (natural stone),
  • Facing, tile (concrete slabs and tiles),
  • Monolithic concrete.

The first four types require relatively permanent care, and hard-coated paths, including a made path with their own hands made of concrete, serve for a long time, are clean and tidy, beautiful, more practical.

A specific type of garden paths is chosen based on the functional purpose, the yard style and the preferences of the owners.

Concrete garden paths

Monolithic concrete paths are distinguished by high strength, they are resistant to deformation, they are not pressed even when the machine moves along them. Therefore, such reasons are excellent for the places of arrival of vehicles, from the entrance gate to farm buildings.

Concrete paths are the cheapest at cost, but require some effort and labor. But it's worth it. In addition, the owner gets satisfaction from the fact that the concrete path has been made by himself. It strikes with a variety of shapes, colors, patterns. Also, the texture of concrete allows you to combine it with other materials: brick, stone, cobblestone or other finish.

Advantages of the concrete path

Advantages, which has a laid out garden path made of concrete by one's own hands, are determined by the qualities of the material used. The positive characteristics of concrete are:

  • Strength and durability - products made of concrete are not punctured or deformed;
  • Ease of use - does not require the use of special equipment;
  • Low cost - cost of 1 sq.m. Is approximately 25 rubles;
  • High resistance to climatic influences of any kind: frost, heat, moisture;
  • Resistance to aggressive environments - not afraid of spilled chemicals;
  • The ability to withstand large mechanical stresses - makes it possible without fear of transporting garden loads along the tracks;
  • Versatility of application - a large playground or a garden path can be built with their own hands without professional masters;
  • From concrete it is possible to create different shapes: straight and curved (depending on the formwork), it can be painted and decorated, combined with many other materials.

What is the width of the path?

First of all, the width of the track is satisfied by a multiple of the width of the tile, if one is used.

Further, it is necessary to take into account the curb on both sides about 6 cm wide.

A lane with a total width of about half a meter can be built on secondary roads, for example, on the approach to the greenhouse: there is enough space for one person to pass and the passage of a single-wheelbarrow.

On a footpath with a width of up to 80 cm, a couple of people can hardly pass by, a children's bicycle will pass. But for an electric car there will be few places. Such a path can be built to economic buildings.

The central tracks need to be made fully functional, approximately, from a meter with a small one and a half meters wide. Here, two people will easily pass, children will travel by their vehicles, and even a small bench will be located.

Tracks from ready-made concrete tiles

Concrete slabs or tiles in small sizes are the simplest and quickest way for making a garden path made of concrete with your own hands. Reviews say that this is also the easiest method to lay out a path.

The technology of their packing is as follows:

  1. Prepare the ground: level the ground, make a markup.
  2. Spread agglomerates or geotextiles to isolate sand from the ground.
  3. The base should be covered with a five-centimeter layer of river wet (not wet!) Sand, level and tamped. River sand contains less clay, so it better passes water.
  4. Start alternating stowage. To ensure that the plates do not move when walking on them, it is necessary to damp them by hammering it gently with a hammer, so as not to split. Check the installation level.
  5. Interlacing stitches are rubbed with cement or sand.

If the slabs are laid back on sandy soils, then a layer of sand is poured into 3 cm. On loamy and clay soils, first gravel or slag 7-10 cm thick is first filled, and then the sand is covered with a layer of 5 cm.

Also, the slabs can be laid on a solution that is applied to a sand cushion. The mortar is placed by fragments at the corners of the tile and in the middle, when laid and pressed, it is distributed evenly under the entire surface.

Track using the form

Today, very popular forms for the implementation of garden paths: wooden, plastic, metal. They have several cells of different sizes and shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles, hexes or irregular configurations) and are used for laying out track fragments.

To assess the speed of these works, you need to know that with the help of ready-made forms, about six meters of the track can be built in two hours. Forms can be purchased in ready-made form, or made independently.

To obtain round plates for pouring use pieces of metal pipes or buckets without a bottom, you will get an original garden path.

With their own hands, large slabs with a frame of 7 mm reinforcement, also laid in the form of a lattice, are also cast from concrete. Before pouring the mold is smeared with technical oil or linseed oil. The reinforcement is laid in such a way that the solution is covered on the bottom and top. After pouring, the concrete is compacted.

Materials and tools for monolithic filling

In order to make a garden path with their own hands made of concrete, the following tools and materials will be needed:

  • sand;
  • Agrovolokno;
  • Cement grade M400;
  • Coarse mesh steel mesh;
  • Wire for binding with a thickness of 2 mm;
  • Additives for concrete in order to improve the elasticity and waterproofing properties;
  • Pieces of sheet iron, plywood or boards with a width of at least 25 cm;
  • Wooden or reinforcing pegs;
  • rope;
  • polyethylene film;
  • A container for mixing the solution;
  • Shovel and bayonet shovels;
  • An ironer with a width of half a meter;
  • A large mall or a sledge hammer;
  • Small construction tools: disparate spatulas and trowels.

Calculation of materials

Example of calculating the required amount of materials for a part of the central track length and width of one meter and a thickness of 10 cm:

  1. The thickness of the layer of sand for litter is 10 cm. The required volume of sand will be as follows:
  • Multiply the length, width and thickness, it will be 0.10 m3;
  • According to the reference data, the sand volume of 1 m3 weighs 2.4 tons;
  • We will recalculate on the necessary volume: 2400кг / м3 х 0.10 m3 = 240 kg.

2. It is important to choose the right mix of concrete for garden paths. With your hands, the made path will not crack if you use the following proportions for the solution:

  • 1 part water,
  • 1 part of cement,
  • 4 parts of sand.

The volume of cement required is calculated in the same way as sand and is equal to the same value: 0.10 m3. According to the handbook, a cubic meter of concrete mixed in sand weighs 2.8 tons. For one meter of the track, the weight of the concrete will be: 2800 kg / m3 x 0.1 m3 = 280 kg. Dividing the obtained value by 5 (water is not taken into account), we get the weight of cement: 56 kg.

The remaining value of 224 kg is the weight of water and sand intended for mixing concrete.

Based on the weight of materials for making tracks 5 cm or 7 cm thick, the resulting weight value should be multiplied by a factor of 0.5 or 0.7, respectively.

Concrete path with own hands: instruction

The filling of the monolithic track is divided into the following stages:

  1. First planning on a piece of paper with the application of all elements of the yard, buildings, tracks, preferably on a scale.
  2. The next step is to calculate the amount of materials: it depends on the soil. On clay soils a half-meter layer of concrete is sufficient, and on light and loose surfaces it is necessary to make a layer of one meter. For marshy soils, it is also necessary to make a half-meter gravel drainage layer before laying the concrete.
  3. The marking is carried out by arranging the pegs according to the plan. A thick rope stretches between the pegs.
  4. According to the marking, a shovel is cut and a trench is digging. Its depth should be approximately 20 cm, and if gravel drainage is established, then 25 cm. All plant remains must be carefully removed.
  5. Next, a formwork is installed, which should be 10 cm above the ground. On the outside, it fits snugly against the walls of the trench, and with the inner side it is strengthened by pegs.
  6. At the bottom of the prepared trench is laid agrofibre, so that the sand does not go to the ground, and the sand itself is poured onto it and tamped. This is necessary for drainage of water. For better packing, the sand cushion is wetted.
  7. Put polyethylene film on top of sand, without holes. This is necessary so that the concrete does not dry up at once, but acquires the necessary strength.
  8. Knead the solution, adding waterproofing impurities to it.
  9. At the bottom put the reinforcing mesh and lay out the solution. Seal, level with a shovel, and then smoothing. The middle of the path is raised by 3 cm to drain water during the rain. Through each linear meter compensatory seams are made, then the laid out garden path from concrete by own hands will not crack and be deformed depending on weather conditions.
  10. The path is covered with a film for a couple of days. Then the film and formwork are removed. During the drying, the concrete is wetted with water.
  11. Bokovinki clogged the earth and rammed. Unevenness from the pegs are embedded in concrete.

When doing a path in the summer, you can walk on it after five days, in the winter - after ten.

Decoration of tracks

A laid garden path made of concrete with own hands, photo examples of which can be found in large quantities, to give originality can be zadekorirovana.

Suitable options:

  • At the mixing stage add a colored pigment;
  • Dry dye can also be added while smoothing the surface with a smoothing pad;
  • After solidification of concrete for three hours, pieces of glass, ceramics, bricks, natural stone, marble chips are pressed into it;
  • In the intervals between the slabs or joints, grass or flowers can be sown;
  • The surface of the path can be decorated with a relief pattern that is applied when the concrete is not yet completely frozen;
  • To obtain a polished surface, the last iron: on the wet solution, apply a dry cement with a layer of 6 mm, then rub it with a smoothing agent.

Curb installation

If the made path on the dacha with your own hands passes from the concrete along the flower garden, then it does not have to be curbed. Other paths with edging look spectacular. The border can be made of bricks or pavers, or independently pour out the fringing elements.

Especially the curb is useful when laying concrete tiles, because it requires a limiter. It is because of the role of the limiter that setting the curb is a responsible occupation. It is designed to keep the tile from traveling under load. If the curb will be poorly fixed, then the tiles will eventually diverge, and the garden path made of concrete will lose its original appearance. For the strength of the curb is installed on the concrete tape base (or just on the ground) and padded with pegs from the outside.

The distance between the border and the tile should be minimal, and the laying - the most dense.
