Gangrene Fournier

Gangrene can be provoked by both external and internal factors. In the first case, the cause of the development of the condition is a mechanical effect. In particular, these are traumas that are accompanied by crushing, crushing of the tissues in combination with a violation of the integrity of nerves and vessels, as well as pressure sores. Gangrene can be provoked by external physical (frostbite, burns), chemical (exposure to arsenic, phosphorus, strong alkalis or acids) factors and the effect of ionizing radiation.

Among the internal causes provoking a condition, it is necessary to name those processes which contribute to the disruption of nutrition of tissues. Mainly, these are vascular lesions. They include blockage of the trunks of the arteries. Lesions can be caused by narrowing of the vessels against a background of spasms or anatomical changes, with atherosclerosis, for example, which is often the cause of thrombosis, infarction.

What is gangrene? This concept characterizes the state of necrosis of any area of the body or organ with a typical change in color (from natural color to bluish, brown or black). Gangrene can develop both with participation (septic or putrefactive), and without participation (aseptic) microbes. The condition occurs due to a sharp restriction or stopping the supply of oxygen to the tissues. Typically, it is noted in areas far removed from the heart (for example, toes). The condition can also occur in foci with a local circulatory disorder (for example, in the lung or heart muscle with an infarction).

Distinguish between gas, dry, and also moist gangrene.

In the latter case, the condition is characterized by swelling, discoloration (to grayish-brown), an increase in the volume of the affected area. As a rule, the affected tissues are transformed into a mass of a soft consistency of dirty-green color. For a state like wet gangrene, a putrid smell is also characteristic.

In the case of a favorable course between dead and healthy tissues, a clear boundary is formed. Subsequently, rejection of the necrotic lesions occurs. The resulting lesion begins to heal with the formation of the scar.

In rare cases, the disease of the genitourinary system can lead to the necrosis of the tissues. This condition is defined as gangrene Fournier.

It should be noted that in this case there is necrotizing fasciitis (a serious infection in the tissues), progressing rapidly enough. Gangrene Fournier affects the external genitalia and perineum. The disease is dangerous for the patient's life, therefore taking urgent measures is of great importance.

To a large extent, early diagnosis is hampered by the overweight of the patient. In addition, the detection of the disease in the initial stages largely depends on the vigilance of the doctor, his ability to recognize the symptoms.

Gangrene Fournier develops with the simultaneous influence of several microorganisms, including staphylococci, streptococci, fungi, enterobacteria. The presence of anaerobic microorganisms is indicated by a characteristic putrefactive odor. The cause of injury can be trauma.

The likelihood of a fatal outcome in the course of illness is very high and is directly proportional to the affected area.

The basis for treating the condition is the method of surgical treatment using antibiotics of a wide range of effects. It should be noted that the gangrene Fournier provokes serious consequences for her patients. This is associated, as a rule, with a large amount of surgical intervention, at which excision (removal) of all dead and infected tissues is carried out.
