Flag of Moldova, coat of arms, hymn

Moldova is a country in South-Eastern Europe, which borders Ukraine and Romania. The Prut and the Dniester rivers flow through the country. The state has no access to water, but belongs to the Black Sea region. To get acquainted with the country its national symbols will help more closely.

What does the modern flag look like?

Rectangular cloth with traditional dimensions - width with length refer to as one to two - is a tricolor. The flag of Moldova includes the following colors: near the pole - bright blue, the so-called tint of Berlin azure, in the middle - a rich yellow and red at the opposite edge, which is called free. It is in this order that they are located on the panel and are placed vertically. In the center is the image of the coat of arms. The width of this symbol refers to the length of the cloth in the proportion of one to five. All the bands occupy an area of the same size.

History of origin

The existing to the modern flag of Moldova was red. In the center of the panel there was a golden image of the head of a tour or a bison. Such symbolism was adopted in the Moldavian principality and was also used on coins, and as a state seal. In the early nineteenth century, the Organic Regulations developed a new banner, in which a blue color appeared. On the plot of this shade, there was a red canton with a bison head and white stars.

A symbol similar to the modern flag of Moldova, photos and images of which can be seen now on souvenirs, in magazines or newspapers, appeared long ago - in 1917. Then the tricolor with red, yellow and blue colors was chosen. It belonged to the Moldavian Democratic Republic. When entering the USSR, the country found a red cloth with a green horizontal strip in the middle. The Soviet flag of Moldova was decorated with images of a sickle, a hammer and a five-pointed star at the shaft. The modern version became official in April 1990, when the state gained sovereignty. Interestingly, until 2010, the front and back sides differed in the presence of the coat of arms on only one of them, and after this year the flag of Moldova has an image on the second side, it's just turned mirror.

Significance of symbols

As in other countries, in Moldova every part of the flag is of particular importance. In addition, the historical meaning is inherent in all the standard as well. The blue-yellow-red tricolor recalls the revolution of 1848 and imitates the French flag. To create a difference, the white band is replaced with a gold one, but in general the cloth should indicate the similarity of the insurgent peoples, adherents of republican views and freedoms. The separate meaning of each of the bands is the following: blue means shades of air and sky, yellow symbolizes the shining sun, and red, as in most other countries of the world, denotes patriots shed for the sovereignty, and also represents the color of the flame.

Flag of Romania

In the history of the world, cases with coincidences in state symbols are not uncommon, but with countries so close, almost none of this happened. The modern flag of Moldova and Romania - tricolor with the same colors, the difference is only the absence of the last coat of arms. For the first time such shades were used in the context of Michael the Brave. He ruled Wallachia, where is now Romania. In 1821, Tudor Vladimirescu overthrew the Turkish rule and became ruler in Bucharest. On its flagpoles fluttering cloths of blue, yellow and red, which embodied a unity, freedom and courage. The flag was used without changes until 1948, when the country was transformed into a socialist republic. In 1989, after the Velvet Revolution, the cloth returned to its former form: the image of the coat of arms, sprockets and ears were removed from it. On December 27, the flag without symbols was officially fixed, exclusively with stripes. About this state symbol can also tell an interesting fact. Residents of the Romanian village of Klinchechi once produced the world's largest standard with an area of 80 thousand square meters and weighing 5 tons. This event is included in the Guinness Book of Records.

History of the arms

In addition to the flag, it is worthwhile to study another state symbol. In addition, the coat of arms of Moldova is used not only independently, but also on the cloth. He depicts a shield that is divided horizontally into two parts, the upper one of which is red, and the lower one is blue. In the center is the head of a bison. Between its horns there is a star with eight rays, to the right of the bison there is a rose with five petals, and to the left of it there is a crescent, slightly inclined to the side. Each element is made in gold color. The shield is placed on the chest of the eagle with a yellow cross in its beak. In the claws of a bird there is a golden scepter and a green olive branch. It is in this form that the coat of arms of Moldova is used on the national flag, located exactly in the middle of the central strip, made in yellow.

National anthem

Like any other country, Moldova has a hymn as well. It is a symbol of the independence of the state. The hymn of Moldova is performed to the music of Alexander Criste, and Alexei Mateevich wrote poems for him. The official name of the song is "Our Language". According to the rules the anthem of Moldova is performed in a vocal or orchestral version, in the state language and without any changes in the text, you can also use sound recording. It is used to raise the flag, take the oath by the new president, on the opening and closing of the parliamentary sessions, on awards and at the opening of monuments, at the meetings of the heads of state. In such a situation, first the melody of another country is performed, as well as during important events of history and culture . In addition, every day a song can be heard on the main TV and radio station, at the beginning and end of broadcasting. The text of the poem "Our Language" is published on the first pages of the primer. To listen to the solemn performance of the national anthem of Moldova must necessarily be standing, and men must always take off their headdresses.
