Fishing secrets: coils inertial

Reel inertia remains relevant and popular for more than a dozen years. The principle of their action is very simple. From the title it is clear that if the line is unwound in spinning gear by inertia, then it is inertial. This means that the coil unwound not immediately, but as if with a slight slowdown.

The inertial coils help anglers make complex casts and wiring. With their help, when casting a bait or other bait begins to unwind the coil. But there is a small nuance here. The thing is that the coil unwinds at once, but with a little delay. This is the reason for inertia. At the moment when the bait enters the water, the coil starts to work in the opposite way. Its rotation goes on and on, and the revolutions slow down only with the passage of a certain time.

But inertial coils have a number of other features. Very interesting is the fact that the inertia values of the coil drums are directly dependent on their masses. In other words, the smaller the weight, the lower this figure, and vice versa. It is for this reason that modern manufacturers produce these gears from light alloys. So, with the help of spinning, equipped with such a coil, you can make a successful casting of even 5 gram bait for a distance of 30 meters. But with the old models it is almost impossible. Another plus is that the drum becomes easier to stop, because its weight is much smaller.

The inertia reels have a number of advantages:

- Absolute simplicity of the device. These coils have only a drum, shaft, brake and bearings;

- Sensitivity to the slightest bait movements. With other types of coils, it is difficult, because the reducer is used;

- high capacity of the drum. This affects the diameter and length of the line, which allows you to catch heavy and stubborn fish;

- Notable cheapness with good quality of goods.

For many anglers with solid experience, inertial coils are more familiar and convenient, so they do not like to switch to inertialess coils. However, any thing has not only advantages, but also cons. This tackle has a few negative qualities, but it is still necessary to voice some of them:

- small casting range. This sometimes hinders when you want to make a vigorous and very strong throw;

- Low speed of winding during wiring. The most striking example is the inertial coil "Nelma". The diameter of the drum is 114 mm, but at the same time, to wind one meter of the line, you need to make three turns of the coil. And this is quite a lot. Increase the diameter of the drum is impractical, because this will increase the weight, and the work of the coil will deteriorate;

- the constant formation of a "beard". This trouble happens even with experienced fishermen. It is almost impossible to envisage it.

Of course, these shortcomings significantly impair the performance of tackles when fishing. But the inertial coils, the price of which is different in availability, are not inferior to other types of coils, and sometimes they are irreplaceable when hunting large trophies. This rig has been serving fishermen for many years and helped to get more than one big fish.
