Fishing on the Volga in the Tver region. Ivankovo Reservoir

The Volga is one of the ten largest rivers in the world and the largest in Europe. Therefore, lovers of fishing here have a place to throw a fishing rod, and not just abandon, and return home with a wonderful catch. Invariable is fishing on the Volga in the Tver region.

Upper Volga

Tver region is located in the region, which has long been called the Upper Volga. It is here, not far from the old Russian city of Tver, and the great Volga originates. The length of the river on the territory of the region is about 700 km, and on this way it receives 150 rivers and streams, and lakes in the region more than 1,500.

But the most interesting, of course, is fishing on the banks of the Volga. Tver region in general is famous for fish places, there are only reservoirs here four: Uglich, Ivankovskoe, Rybinsk and Vyshnevolotskoye.

The Upper Volga region is rich not only with rivers and lakes, but also with forests. Pine forests, light birch groves and thick spruce forests stretch along the banks of the Volga-Mother. They are famous for mushroom and berry places, magnificent, rich with air of coniferous aroma and beautiful landscapes. Therefore, rest and fishing on the Volga in the Tver region attract many lovers of this Russian nature. And what will be the catch? Judging by the reviews, the anglers do not have to be offended ...

Volga river. Tver region. Fishing

The Volga and the reservoirs are rich in fish. Here there are also quite "democratic", ubiquitous species such as carp, ide, gusher, gudgeon, perch, bream, roach, rudd, bleach and ubiquitous ruff, and from predators - pike, burbot, pike perch and catfish. Whitefish, asp, bersh, river eel, chehon, vobla occur less often, but are also considered quite common prey. Judging by the stories of seasoned anglers, it enters the area of the Upper Volga and the "royal fish": sturgeon, sterlet and even beluga. But, of course, catching it is not easy, especially for the usual fishing tackle.

Reservoirs have changed the relief of the river, there are many estuaries and caves, which are considered the best places for fishing. In addition, in ancient times a glacier moved along this terrain, and the bottom of the river is very uneven, there are many pits and shallows, and the depth changes range from 3 to 20 meters. In the pits, large predators are often ambushed, such as burbot and catfish. And on the line of the depth difference you can catch not one dozen decent perch and zander.

What to catch on the Volga "white fish"

The variety of fish species and large water areas oblige the angler to take care of suitable tackles and baits.

For catching the so-called white fish - bream, carp, bream, scribble - the best float fishing rod, donka or feeder is the best. Nozzles and baits are used in a variety of ways - from conventional worm and sponge to cooked in an intricate recipe for cereals and mixtures. Corn (both steamed and canned), pearl barley, boilies are also a success.

But fishing from the shore with a telescopic fishing rod is good on lakes or small rivers, and if it is the Volga River in the Tver region, fishing with a feeder will be more successful. First, casting is obtained further, and secondly, the presence of a feeder allows attracting fastidious Volga fish.

The best tackles and baits for a predator

As for catching carnivorous fish for spinning, we must remember that, for example, a pike is easier to catch on a lake than on a river, since it hunts from an ambush and prefers thickets and caves. But the pike perch loves the rapid current, and on the Volga it is expanse.

Therefore, spinning enthusiasts, who were interested in fishing on the Volga in the Tver region, primarily talk about catching pike perch or less common bersh. They catch these predators on spinnings 2.5-3 meters long with an inertial-free coil. Lures can be very different: spinning spoons, wobblers, vibrotails.

One should only remember that the pike perch has a small mouth, so large "pike" spoon-baits will not work, nozzles need smaller ones.

Along with zander, enviable prey are considered perches, especially about a kilogram in weight - humpbacks. Of course, pike perch can be caught much larger, but perch - more.

Winter fishing

Because of the complex relief of the bottom and large area, especially in reservoirs, catching a fishing rod from a boat is inefficient, and from the shore the biting is unstable and the fish is fastidious.

But no less interesting, and often more successful, is the winter fishing on the Volga in the Tver region, especially since its season here lasts from late November to April. The advantages of winter fishing, according to fans to sit on the ice, a lot:

  • Free access to any fish place - the ice is strong, not only to reach, you can get there;
  • The fish are not as mobile as in the summer, and much more hungry;
  • Predatory fish (pike perch, perch) keeps in one place, and successfully (and correctly) the drilled hole can bring more than a dozen perches;
  • In winter, for fish, oxygen is often more important than food, so the hole - the source of air - becomes a bait in itself.

Fishing on the Volga (Tver region): places

Speaking about the Volga itself, the most popular among the fishermen are the places where the tributaries flow into it, such as Shosh (on which, by the way, there is a well-known reserve and the complex "Zavidovo"), Soz, Nerl and others.

Fishing is also interesting on numerous lakes of the Tver region - Veliky, Verestove, Belsky, Volgo and, of course, Seliger. On lakes, especially small ones, often the atmosphere is more comfortable, and the fish are no less than on the river. A pike, for example, and at all prefers lake thickets of open water.

On the banks of the Volga and its tributaries, there are many campsites, tourist bases and large complexes, such as the Alexandrovsky pier, Dream Beach, Biosphere, Verkhnevolzhye, Green Forest and many others. Here there are all conditions not only for comfortable fishing, but also for relaxation with family and friends.

Those who are attracted to fishing on the Volga in the Tver region, often choose reservoirs.

Reservoirs of the Upper Volga

The largest variety of fish is famous for the Rybinsk Reservoir, and its area is rather big - more than 4,5 thousand km², and the width in some places reaches 70 km. Therefore, for a full summer fishing it is better to have a boat with a motor. In addition, it is not for nothing that this reservoir is often called the sea - in the presence of wind, a wave here can be played serious.

The Uglich reservoir is much smaller, and its width does not exceed 5 km. The most common fish is bream, but to catch, for example, pike perch or asp, you need to know the places well. The fish here are frightened and cautious because of the work on the extraction of gravel and lively shipping.

The Vyshnevolotsky reservoir is located near the town of Vyshny Volochek and it plays an important role both in seasonal runoff and in maintaining the water level in the Volga. There are a lot of fish in this reservoir, especially roach, perch, pike, carp, pike perch.

Ivankovo Reservoir

The reservoir is located on the territory of two regions - Tver and Moscow. Its area exceeds 300 km², although it is smaller than Rybinsk - an average of 5 m, although there are areas with a depth exceeding 15 m.

A winding coastline, a large number of bays and rivers flowing into the reservoir make it an ideal place for fishing. The underwater world here is surprisingly diverse - no less than 30 species of fish. There are also bream, pike, pike-perch, rudd, and less common asp, burbot, tench, sink, catfish.

The reservoir not only takes care of the safety of fish resources, but also breeds new species of fish, for example, carp, silver carp and carp. There is even a sterlet.

On the banks of the reservoir there are tourist complexes focused specifically on the fishermen, and in the area of Konakovo there are even fishing clubs. Those who are attracted to fishing on the Volga in the Tver region, Konakovo River Club will undoubtedly be interesting. It is located on the shore, and the tourists who were there joke that the fishing rod can be showered directly from the hotel room window. There is a shop for anglers and boat rental and gear.

You can also note the fishing club "Sudimir", the base "Prichal", "Dinamo", "Azure" and others.
