Chrysler Prowler - this roadster, created in retro style, from the famous American automobile concern Chrysler. This car was produced in small series from 1999 to 2000, and also in 1997. From English the name of this model is translated as "tramp".

Chrysler Prowler Roadster History

This sports car appeared thanks to the president of the company "Chrysler" Lutz Bob. In May 1990, in the design studio in the city of Karsbade, which is located in the state of California, was successfully held an exhibition called "The Market of Ideas." There, amidst an incredible number of ideas, there was a simple three-by-five-inch cardboard with an explanatory note, "Retro in Hot Rod Style," and a drawing. In November of the same year, the studio is visited by Lutz Bob, who catches the eye with this drawing. It is at this point that the president of the company "Chrysler" lights up the idea of a new unusual car.

The money for the development and creation of the Chrysler Prowler, the price of which was still unknown, was released two years later, in 1992. The debut of the new car was scheduled in Detroit in about six months.

In October of the same year, for the future car was chosen color - purple. At the same time, we decided to use a special two-layer paint with an unusual effect of depth. The words of Gail himself: "We used paint in the depth of a meter." Specially for her specialists, a special primer (also purple) was developed. For this reason, the car's body remained the same color even in places of chips and scratches.

In early 1993, the Chrysler Prowler was already introduced to the public at an auto show in Detroit. It was decided to assemble this unit not on the main production line. However, the release was to remain serial. And then a year later Chrysler Prowler appears again at the exhibition in Detroit. It was the same concept car, which was already being prepared for serial production.

President of the company Chrysler Bob Lutz, chairman of the council Eaton Bob and vice-president Kasten Francois in 1994 personally pierce the first model Chrysler Prowler at a well-known testing ground in Chelsea, Michigan. Subsequently, Eaton Bob concluded his trip with the following words: "Now I want to take the Chrysler Prowler home." By the way, for test runs this car was carefully disguised under the body of an off-road jeep Wrangler. This version later got its nickname - "prangler".

As a production car, the Chrysler Prowler was introduced to the public at an exhibition in Detroit in early 1997. Then the visitors did not believe it.

In March of the same year, the sixteenth similar car was assembled, the last of the pilot series. On the day the company "Chrysler" planned to collect twenty cars. The first production car was bought two months later, that is, in June 1997. By the end of the year, 457 Chrysler Prowler had been manufactured, which could be bought at a price of thirty-eight thousand dollars. All of them were deep purple. More than eleven thousand cars of this model were manufactured.

The power of the Chrysler Prowler engine was 257 hp. The maximum possible speed, which develops this car, is equal to 210 kilometers per hour. Up to a hundred the car accelerates in six seconds.
