Evangelists: who is this? How did they become known and what did their followers teach?

Many Christians are interested in the question of such people as evangelists. Who is this and what did they do unusual to be remembered for ever by all believers? They are apostles, each of whom wrote the most important Christian book. It is called the Gospel.

According to church legends, the closest people to Christ were his disciples - the apostles. They talked about the world to him, talked about the miracles that he created, and his teachings. And there are only 4 evangelists, each of whom is revered by the church, elevated to the rank of saints.

The Apostle Luke

St. Paul had a special influence on one of the evangelists. It was Luke. It was under the influence of the apostle Paul that he wrote the third book. She had a unique content, a special theme. Only in his texts were mentioned such moments as:

  • The Ascension of Jesus to heaven after he earned forgiveness for all people.
  • Birth of St. John.

Luke is also an evangelist, who wrote most openly about church canons. He never says that forgiveness is oriented only to the same saints who refused to commit sinful deeds. Paradise life awaited not only Christians, but all the rest, because Jesus came just for forgiveness for them.

His miracles did not end today. Holy relics help Christians and representatives of other religions.

Thus, Luke is an evangelist who continues to work miracles to this day. Everyone in need can turn to his holy relics. Usually, in prayers, he is asked to recover or successfully perform operations. This is due to the fact that during his lifetime Luke was a doctor. But this does not mean that he helps only the sick, anyone can tell him about their problems, ask for help, and she will definitely come.

John the Theologian

If you pay attention to what kind of life evangelists led, who it is and how they became known, then first of all you need to consider John the Theologian. The fact is that many written sources of Christians indicate that he was a beloved disciple of Christ. It was John who became the only person who stood next to the Mother of God near the crucifixion. Therefore, it was quite logical that he started writing the Gospel.

John was the first witness of many miracles, including the resurrection of Jesus. That is why he paid special attention to the Easter holiday, which was not done by other evangelists. Icons, prayers, various hymns - all this was dedicated to John, since his book differs radically. The basis of all the scriptures in it is focused on the Resurrection of Christ, some texts were taken as verses. In all churches they are used in the chants of the Passover night service.

Levi Matthew

Matthew was one of the 12 disciples of Christ. And before he let Jesus into his heart, he was an ordinary tax collector. And such people, as you know, did not differ in their honesty and justice. Therefore, his conversion to God can be called from the very beginning a miracle. It is believed that Levi went after Christ immediately, as soon as he heard his sermons.

The faith and teachings of Jesus were spoken by all the evangelists, who started to do this first - it is not known. It is directly related to Matthew that he began teaching his teachings to Jews in Judea. It was for them that he wrote his Gospel, and it was in the appropriate language. Subsequently, this book was translated several times.

Levi spent the last years of his life in India, teaching the Christians of this country. He helped one famous family with noble roots. Her head at first admired the deeds of the apostle, and then became angry with him. As a result, Matthew took a painful death. But the head of that family subsequently renounced titles and wealth. He was baptized in the name of Matthew and until the end of his days he led a Christian way of life.

The Apostle Mark

One night in the territory of Jerusalem, Barnabas's nephew was born, and then he still did not know what life was for him. The apostle, evangelist and Saint Mark first followed Christ. Then, after his ascension, he went to Egypt, where he became the first bishop of Alexandria. It was here that he wrote his Gospel, which was meant for those who accepted the faith of the Gentiles.

Sources indicate that Mark's book included little. It consisted of short stories by the apostle Peter. After Mark recorded them, he returned to Alexandria. And there he realized that the remaining pagans would not give him a quiet life, so he hastened to find successors.

Soon the pagans nevertheless reached it. For two days he was subjected to various torments with a break for the night in a dungeon, then - died of terrible torture. But, like all the saints, he did not doubt the existence of God at all, and his last words were addressed specifically to him.

Conclusion

In modern times, much is known about such people as evangelists. Who is it? This question rises more and more rarely. Usually, in the believing family, the elders tell the younger ones about them, try to teach church dogmas and rules. Unequivocally, it can only be said that if every person lives by the rules and texts of the Gospel, then wars and tragedies on the planet will become much less.
