Eggs: shelf life of raw and boiled product

Eggs are a rather interesting product. After all, they consist of both liquid animal raw materials and the surrounding strong shell. This article tells you how and how much you can save raw and boiled chicken eggs. The shelf life depends on the temperature and other conditions in which they are located (humidity, ventilation, proximity to other products). It is these factors that divide the product into two categories of quality: dietary and canteens. The first provide very limited use time, the latter can be stored much longer.

Raw eggs: shelf life. Ways to extend it

Diet eggs should not be stored at an excessively low temperature - up to -2 ° C. The most favorable temperature is from 0 ° C to + 3-4 ° C. But even in this case eggs are considered dietary only for 7 days after the demolition. A product whose shelf life is higher is considered a dining room . Such eggs are usually kept in the refrigerator for 35-40 days, keeping the temperature in the range from -2 ° C to + 5-7 ° C. At room temperature, storing them for more than 8-10 days is not recommended to avoid spoilage.

But there are situations when, for example, refrigerators do not work or you have to transport eggs somewhere. The expiration date in this case can be extended by one of the methods:

- put them in a weak brine (1 liter of water 1 tbsp salt);

- cover the eggs with a thin layer of one of the substances to prevent ingress of air into the pores: glycerin, petrolatum, butter or a mixture of wax with sunflower oil;

- wipe with a light pink solution of potassium permanganate;

- put the product in a container, filling the free space between the eggs with chalk, talc or pure dry grain.

How to determine the expiration date of a chicken egg?

Buying them in the store, you need to find a stamp with which you label each. Diet eggs are usually marked in red with the category and date of the demolition. Similar information is found on table eggs, only the label will be blue. It is allowed the absence of any stamps on the last kind of product. In this case, you can find out about the possible date of demolition or packing from the seller, requesting the shipping documents. Simpler things are with the eggs from the farm. Here, for sure, you yourself will know exactly from which date to start counting, since the seizure of demolished chicken products is carried out daily.

Shelf life of boiled eggs

The period of preservation will depend to some extent on the method of preparation. Hard-boiled eggs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, and having a liquid inside ("soft", "in a bag") - no more than 2 days. Shell-cleaned products should be placed in containers, since they have the property of absorbing the smells of surrounding products. But in this case the shelf life should not exceed 2-3 days. So try to use the cooked dishes right away.

Painted eggs: shelf life

Especially it is necessary to talk about the ways of storing the Easter eggs processed with colors. Many forget that these beautiful attributes of the holiday are products with a certain shelf life. Therefore, do not forget to comply with the temperature regime and the necessary time, putting them in a cool place or in the refrigerator. Coloring with natural dyes does not affect the shelf life, and covering the eggs with thermo film significantly reduces it, since it helps to further heat the product inside the shell.
