Earthquakes in Dagestan. The threat to again hear the "pulse" of the Earth is preserved

Earthquakes in Dagestan, unfortunately, can not be called a rare phenomenon. The Republic of Dagestan is located in the very center of the North Caucasian seismically active zone. Recently earthquakes in Dagestan did not bring destruction and human casualties. Many of the earthquakes were fixed only due to special equipment, and they were not felt by the person. Is this behavior of the elements an excuse to get rid of anxiety or a calm before the storm?

Earthquake in Dagestan on June 16

June 16 in the newsline there was information about new earthquakes in the republic. This time the epicenter of the earthquake in Dagestan was in the water area of the Caspian Sea at a distance of 30 kilometers from the capital of the republic. Underground shocks were recorded around 5 pm Moscow time, their strength reached 4 points on the Richter scale. According to eyewitnesses of the incident, they felt tremors. But fortunately, there were no destructions and no sacrifices. But earthquakes in Dagestan have not always been so "sparing".

From the history of natural disasters

The last earthquake in Dagestan, which became a real catastrophic blow to the elements, occurred in May 1970. It can be safely called the largest earthquake in the Caucasus. The earthquake zone in Dagestan covered an area of 1000 square kilometers. Km, and the force of earthquakes in the epicenter reached 9 points. The result of the disaster was 22 completely destroyed settlements. Another 257 were destroyed in part, about 45,000 people were left without their homes. But the most terrible loss was human life. The earthquake claimed the lives of 31 people.

What is warned by seismologists

Scientists studying the behavior of seismically active zones argue that the danger of hearing the Earth's "pulse" again is high, and, in their opinion, an earthquake in Dagestan is expected again in the near future. The probability that the earthquakes will occur here again is very great. In seismology, there is a law of repeatability. On average, this is a time interval of forty years. And if the last large-scale earthquake of 1970 is taken as the reference point, this time threshold has already been passed, and the probability of a new rampant element of such a force is increasing every year.

In the last decade, the seismic process has begun to deepen, in which the focus of the earth's vibration has dropped to a mark of sixty kilometers in depth, and this is another fact that indicates that a major tectonic event is to be expected in the future.

Will Dagestan sustain a new natural disaster?

The situation is complicated by the fact that the territory of Dagestan has become more densely populated. Makhachkala has become a multistory building. Many questions arise as to how the buildings constructed in the last decades will behave. How were the sites chosen for their construction, how was the design carried out, were the measures of seismic safety taken into account? It is no secret that in the capital of the Republic of Makhachkala in this regard, very poorly thought out decisions on the layout of the city. In Makhachkala itself, and in many regional centers, there are practically no open sites, in which, if there was an earthquake in Dagestan, it would be possible to remain relatively safe. In case of an emergency situation, the traffic jams and congestions that have been created will make the evacuation of the population difficult to achieve. Mine delayed action - this is a huge number of gas stations in the immediate vicinity of residential blocks. Does not add optimism and the construction of hydroelectric power stations, and the development of deep oil wells.

What can and should be done?

At present, local, regional, federal agencies deal with security issues in emergency situations, which include earthquakes. In the republic it is expedient to create a center that analyzes all incoming information and promptly responds. Already in the near future, it is necessary to conduct a total survey and strengthen the strength of the structures of the premises, especially those that are built with a high seismic deficit. In the future, in the territory of Dagestan there should not be any buildings that could not withstand earthquakes of 8-9 points. Predict and warn the earthquake is impossible, but to reduce the amount of loss to a minimum person can.

What measures to take at the first jerks

From the moment of the first tremors (ringing utensils, falling objects, crumbling whitewash say about this) to subsequent ones, which can already start serious destruction, a person has 10 to 20 seconds to leave the building or to find a shelter relatively safely in it.

At the first push, leave the building immediately. It should be remembered that the elevator in this situation is a source of increased danger. You need to go down the stairs, pressing as close as possible to the wall.

If it was not possible to get out of the room, it is better to occupy a position in the doorway or in the corner of the room near the bearing wall, and as far as possible from windows and furniture. After you managed to get out on the street, head to the nearest people gathering center. Walk on foot, the vehicle is not recommended. Try not to panic and behave so as not to become a source of panic for others.

Residents of seismically active areas are advised by the Ministry of Emergency Measures to constantly monitor the serviceable condition of electrical wiring, water pipes and especially gas pipes, to know where and how to cut off the supply of gas, water and electricity, not only in their own apartment, but also in the entrance, in the house.
