Do you know how often it is possible to take an X-ray and is it dangerous for a person
Mysterious rays
In November 1895, Professor of Physics Wilhelm Roentgen discovered a rather interesting form of radiation. The rays could freely penetrate through the opaque body, paper, iron, and most importantly, through living tissue! The following year, the scientist with the help of them was able to "take a picture" of his own brush, having received on the photographic plate its image. He could not believe his eyes. "Photo" clearly showed every bone, every phalanx of the finger. X-ray itself called his mysterious find "X-rays."
To begin with, we note that we do this kind of examination for our life several dozen times, for example, fluorography. Meanwhile, almost 70% of all diagnoses are due to x-rays. They diagnose this or that disease, its scale, determine the stage of the disease, etc. Its extensive use of X-rays was, of course, in the field of traumatology. It is with the help of these rays that one can determine both the presence of the fracture itself and the extent to which surgical intervention is necessary.
And good, and harm ...
Imagine how often it is possible to do x-rays, if it is necessary almost always and everywhere! Under the control of these rays, surgeons perform operations on vessels that are only visible in this way, because the naked eye can never find out where the vessel narrowed and how it can be expanded. But, notice, "it is possible" - does not mean "it is necessary"! Do not overdo it on this account, because in whatever the necessary purposes, irradiation is not used - from him, without any doubt, there is radiation damage. At the same time, no one has died from a single irradiation during the passage of fluorography, we with you over the summer receive a much larger dose of harmful radiation, sunbathing on the beach under the scorching sun.
How often can I take X-rays to children and pregnant women?
No way! Absolutely nothing! Remember that children under 15 years old, as well as pregnant women are not subject to any x-ray research. But breastfeeding mothers will no longer cause any harm, since harmful rays do not have a radiation effect on breast milk. If, for some reason, the child still needs to be irradiated (for example, to take a picture of the lungs), then this is strictly provided that the whole body of the baby is protected from harmful radiation. Open only the area necessary for the picture (in our case - the back of the baby) remains.
X-ray in Moscow, as, indeed, in other cities of Russia, there are two types: -copy and -ography. In the first case, the doctor examines his patient in the regime, which is called "online", i.e. Directly under X-rays. In the second - a picture is taken and it is he who is being examined, and not the person himself.
