Do not open the plastic window: possible causes and solutions

Most people prefer plastic windows, because they have better characteristics than wooden structures. However, in the process of exploitation, they must be taken care of so that they do not break down. Often happens that the plastic window does not open. With what is this connected and how to improve the situation without recruiting specialists? Below we will talk specifically about this.

Main problems and causes

Most often, homeowners are faced with the fact that the construction does not open completely, in part, does not allow you to go into ventilation mode or wedges its bottom. Also there are cases when the window jams, the accessories stop working, the profile is distorted, the handle does not turn or break. With all these problems you can cope if you know the causes of the breakdown.

Most faults, due to which the plastic window is not opened properly, is associated with:

- Failure of the folding mechanism;
- wrong alignment of the strapping;
- incorrectly made adjustment;
- sagging or warping the sash;
- the wear of the accessories, because it is subjected to serious loads during operation.

If the window jams

If the leaf does not open properly, closes or jams, it most likely touches the lower or side frame element. Every day, it is more and more distorted, as a result of which it may cease to close at all. In this case, the adjustment of the structure will help. Such manipulations are also required if the plastic window does not open for ventilation.

The leaf is adjustable in length, height, width and along the axes of rotation (horizontal and vertical). Before proceeding to work, it is necessary to remove the decorative pads from the hinges and find the adjusting element (on the lower and upper end). It can be represented by a hexagon, an asterisk or a hole for a conventional screwdriver. Adjustment is the rotation of these eccentrics. Near the edge of the roller, you need to find a point that shows how tightly pressed the leaf (the maximum approach to the seal).

Problems with hardware

- find around the perimeter all the screws that hold the hardware (located in a special groove);

- pull out the mechanism, put it on film and rinse with a brush dampened in a cleaner;
- Dry the items with a hair dryer or just wait;
- all transfer and rubbing elements are coated with a lubricating compound (special, for plastic windows);
- return the hardware to its place and screw it with screws;
- put the window in the opening and lubricate the hinges.

Deformation of the profile

This malfunction is affected by windows with both a swing-and-tilt mechanism and a swivel. The cause of the problem can be poor-quality installation (stretching the frame with an anchor), the absence of straightening plates (located between the profile and the glass).

If the plastic window does not open in this case, it can be repaired fairly quickly. It is necessary to remove the glazing bead (near the loops) and insert the straightening plates between the profile and the glass. To remove the glaze, you need a wide chisel or a thick spatula. The handle does not rotate

Broken pen
