Diastase of rectus abdominal muscles

The diastase of the rectus abdominal muscles today is classified as a very common phenomenon. It arises as a result of different reasons. As a rule, the divergence of the rectus abdominal muscles is observed in its upper half.

The middle line of the peritoneum (white line) is the junction of the tendons. Despite the presence of connective tissue structure of the tendon center of the muscles, the middle line is characterized as one of the weakest sections of the anterior wall of the peritoneum. The diastase of the rectus abdominis leads to the formation of an extension in the midline.

Depending on the size, the expansion can be classified into the first (up to five centimeters), the second (up to seven centimeters) and the third degree (from eight or more centimeters). Determination of the degree of expansion is fundamental in determining the method of treatment and predicting the disease.

The diastase of the rectus abdominal muscles can be associated with increased pressure inside the peritoneum. This condition is the result of "straining" (with coughing, constipation) or lifting the shoulder girdle and head in the process of performing exercises on the press. Also for reasons include weight lifting. In a number of cases, the diastase of the rectus abdominal muscles occurs during the rise from the horizontal position. In many cases, the enlargement is due to a general weakness in the connective tissue. This condition is based on the presence of varicose veins, flat feet, excessive joint mobility, hernias of different localization. Undoubtedly, the expansion of muscles is also a consequence of pregnancy. In prenatal period, exercises for the press are contraindicated . They are not recommended for several months after delivery or by cesarean section. During pregnancy, great importance in the prevention of diastasis has control over the state of weight. In some cases, the doctor may prescribe the use of special bandages. As a rule, they are recommended from the twenty-fifth week. For pregnant women develop special exercises aimed at maintaining the muscles.

An enlargement in the prone position is observed when the head is raised. Thus, the presence of a soft oblong roller is determined. Between the muscles of the fingers, a painless longitudinal hollow is palpated. It should be noted that the enlargement is not considered a hernia and does not provoke the infringement of internal organs. The diastase of the abdominal muscles is not a violation of integrity in the connective tissue. The initial stages of the condition, as a rule, do not belong to the disease. However, they require immediate intervention. More advanced cases are characterized by discomfort and severity, difficulties in walking. In a number of cases, the pain that appears after a rather intense load is characteristic.

Often diastasis is combined with lipomas or umbilical hernias.

The method of treatment of enlargement can be conservative or operative.

Elimination of diastase with the help of a surgical method is due to the transience and progression of the disease. In advanced cases, there may be an omission of organs located inside the peritoneum. In addition, the development of enlargement increases the likelihood of muscle atrophy, stretching of aponeuroses.

In the pre-operative period, special bandages or bandages may be prescribed. It is necessary to note the inexpediency of self-treatment. To effectively get rid of the symptoms of the disease, in the first place, you need competent diagnosis.

The operation to eliminate diastasis is the most effective method of therapy.

To avoid complications, exercises on the press after operation are contraindicated.

To strengthen the abdominal muscles, the doctor appoints a special gymnastic complex.
