Cressida Cowell: a children's writer or creator of fantasy?

Cressida Cowell is a children's writer, who suddenly became known all over the world thanks to the adaptation of one of her books. "How to Train Your Dragon" is quite a popular cartoon. Today, millions of children on the planet enjoy watching the life and adventures of heroes invented by a British writer.

Biography

The writer was born and still lives in London. She is married. Together with her beloved, she brings up two daughters and a son. In their family live cats - Baloo and Lila.

When Cressida Cowell was a little girl, her family left for an uninhabited island, which is near Scotland. On this small piece of land there are no roads, electricity, telephones. There, the Cressida family spent first several weeks. As soon as her father built a small house on the island, he bought a boat, they could spend the whole summer there.

Every summer evening on an uninhabited island ended with his father's stories about the Vikings. He said that they lived here 1200 years ago. Viking tribes constantly fought among themselves and united in the fight against dragons. The fire-breathing monsters lived in caves, which were located right in the cliffs.

Cressida immediately went to university after school. There I studied English for a long time. And then she graduated from college and became a graphic designer and illustrator.

Books

The most famous work that Cressida Cowell wrote is "How to Train Your Dragon." However, this is a whole series, which consists of 12 books. The main acting hero in them is Ikking the Bloodthirsty Karasik III. And the series itself is his memoirs. In them he talks about his childhood.

In London Cressida Cowell has been known for a long time. And the whole world, she became famous thanks to the adaptation of her very first book about Ikking.

Not all the books about the young viking series are translated into Russian. But Russian children are eagerly awaiting new adventures of Ikking, his friends and, of course, dragons.

Not only works about Vikings and dragons were written by Cressida Cowell. She also created books about Emily Brown:

  • "This rabbit belongs to Emily Brown";
  • "Emily Brown and Something";
  • "Emily Brown and the incident with the elephant."

In addition to the series, Cressida wrote several independent children's books. True, they have not yet been translated into Russian.

The popular Cressida Cowell woke up in 2010. It was then that DreamWorks released a full-length animated film "How to Train Your Dragon". After 4 years, the second part of the cartoon came out. And in 2018 it is planned to create another series, which will be final.

All the books in the series "How to Train Your Dragon" have a huge amount of feedback. Most of them belong to critics of the most diverse publishing houses that exist in the world. And many of these reviews have a positive coloring. High ratings of these books have been received on the most famous Internet portals, where the main judges are ordinary readers:
