Cleaning the well with your own hands

Wells in the countryside or in cottages have ceased to act as the main source of water, but many do not rush to part with them. In summer, a large flow of liquid is noted, water is needed not only for solving household tasks, but also for watering the garden. If the hose is connected to the central water supply, the water bills will increase. While the water from the well is free, there is always access to it.

If you use well water only from time to time, this can lead to a deterioration in water quality. In such cases, the owners note that it is simply impossible to drink it. There are two ways out of this situation. One of them is to leave everything as it is. The second option is the general cleaning of the mine.

Preventive cleaning of water

Cleaning the well can be preventative. It must be done every year after winter. If the water looks normal, it must be disinfected. To do this, you must buy potassium permanganate, which is known as manganese. It must be dissolved in a bucket of water and poured into a well. A tablespoon for such a volume of liquid will suffice. After 3 hours, the water must be pumped out. Pour it can be on the garden, at the same time it will disinfect the land. Such sanitation should be carried out after the snow falls and the probability of penetration into the meltwater and precipitation decreases.

Cleaning the drainage well

Clearing the water from the well at the dacha is sometimes not so effective if the water has a clayey or sandy sediment that covers the bottom filter and interferes with its operation. In this case, it is necessary to clean the shaft with a drain pump. For this, appropriate equipment is purchased or leased, which is intended for pumping out dirty water. The pump descends to the bottom, it should be screwed with a short hose, the length of which does not exceed 0.5 m. With its help it will be possible to create an intensive movement of water, a large amount of debris and sand will rise from the bottom.

The drainage pump should be lowered on the winch or rope so that it does not reach about 30 cm to the bottom. The hose should extend beyond the mine, to the place where you plan to drain the contaminated liquid. Then the pump starts, after 15 minutes the drainage device is started. The condition of the pumped liquid will make it clear how much cleaner it has become. A ten-centimeter layer of sand can be removed within 2 hours of operation of the equipment. When the drinking well is cleaned by such a technology, a conventional drain pump should be sufficient for about 3 hours of continuous operation. If you have a low-power model, it will not be able to cope with a similar volume of sand, the filter will immediately be clogged. After cleaning, the sand can stay. This indicates the need for general cleaning and repair of the mine. In this case, sand can enter through the cracks in the water.

Mechanical cleaning of the well

If cleaning the water from the well does not help, you will have to do manual cleaning of the bottom and walls. The process consists of several stages. Water is first pumped out at 50 cm, the walls are cleaned in parallel. To do this, use a soft brush or a large sponge. It is important not to damage the structure of the rings. The use of detergents or chemically hazardous compounds is unacceptable. Once the walls can be completely cleaned, and the bottom is felt, water can be deflated by proceeding to a thorough cleaning of the bottom. Once the seams have been cleaned, they can be filled with cement mortar with liquid glass. This will improve the conservation of the contents of the well from the penetration of surface water.

Then disinfection should be done. The walls are treated with a 10% solution of bleach. The solution should be poured on the bottom, the lid is clogged, wrapped with tarpaulin, which will prevent the evaporation of chlorine. In this state, the well must be left for two days, after which the water is pumped twice. Cleaning of drainage wells by this method is carried out approximately 2 times a year.

Additional recommendations for the thorough cleaning of the drinking well

Sometimes it happens that the rings lose their tightness. The well at the dacha, the cleaning of which can be carried out by yourself, can become contaminated with organic material, after which it is necessary to pump the mine completely, as it will not be possible to clean the water if there is water inside. To carry out the work you will need not only a water pump, but also safety ropes, through which the master will be able to descend into the mine. It is necessary to prepare a fairly long ladder. If such a farm does not exist, you should build a cable swing, to which the board is attached. On it, the cleaner will stand with his feet. In no way do the master without rubber boots, as well as soft brushes and buckets.

Important to remember

Do not start cleaning the well unless you have found helpers. This work requires at least 3 people. One of them will go down into the mine, the other will take buckets, serve tools and take them, while the third will monitor the safety equipment.

Wastewater treatment

Sewage manholes can be cleaned in several ways, one of which involves the use of silos. This option, according to experts, is the most optimal. Used equipment is intended for sewage works. The cleaning structure includes a vacuum pump and a cistern. One of the advantages of this method is the possibility of operation in any season.

Vacuum pumping

This approach involves the use of a vacuum pump. All the discharged waste is collected and disposed of. This type of cleaning meets the requirements of environmental safety and is effective.

Hydrodynamic cleaning

Sewerage wells can be cleaned using a hydrodynamic method, it consists in flushing the waste with a strong head of water. This allows eliminating any obstructions of inorganic and organic origin. After the end of the wash-out, the waste can be collected and disposed of. For this, two machines are used, the first is the sewer, and the second is the sludge.

Chemical flushing

This method involves the use of strong chemical reagents. They soften and transform the condensate deposits, which can be saline, in a dissolved state. With the help of special equipment and chemical composition, this process can be carried out, the preparation allows for efficient surface treatment and concentration of the reagents. It allows you to create a mechanical effect. Cleaning of the well by this method is effective and environmentally safe. It is rarely used, because it is quite expensive.

Thermal washing of sewage wells

According to the principle of operation, this technology resembles hydrodynamic cleaning, but in this case there is one principal feature that is expressed in the use of the pressure of hot water. When the well is cleaned by this method, the temperature of the jet can fluctuate within 120-160 ° C. An important condition for the effectiveness of the method is regular conduct. The efficiency of chemical washing, which will be used in conjunction with thermal washing, can be increased several times.

Conclusion

If cleaning the well will require the master to dive inside, you need to make sure that there is air at the bottom suitable for the person. To do this, there is a simple method, which consists in the fact that the container needs to be lowered with a candle lit in it. If it does not go out, then oxygen is enough for breathing.

If you want to clean the walls of concrete rings, it is important to choose the right brush. Its villi should have a moderate degree of rigidity, because otherwise you can damage the concrete.
