Choosing a generator for home

Today, nobody is surprised by the presence of a generator in the house, and for many, equipment is a truly necessary element. All this led to the appearance of a wide variety of types and models of equipment of this kind. And to choose a generator for the home was not so easy!

When choosing a product, it is necessary to consider the following factors. So, if the equipment is purchased only for short-term use (for example, for two or three hours a day), it will be enough to buy a compact portable generator for a small-capacity home.

To back up electricity at home, you need to choose more powerful models of equipment: professional or semi-professional generators with a power of up to 20 kW / h.

Well, to permanently provide electricity to the whole house, you should stop your choice on stationary generators having high power (up to several hundred kilowatts).

Buying a generator for the house, it is necessary to determine the capacity of the equipment. To do this, it is necessary to clarify what the total capacity of electrical appliances working in the house. Thus it is necessary to increase the obtained value by approximately 20%. This is done taking into account the possible use of other electrical appliances, as well as to avoid the negative influence of errors between the theoretical and actual data of electrical devices.

Another important parameter that should be considered when choosing a generator is the type of fuel used to generate electricity. There are gas, diesel, gasoline and inverter generators. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages.

Generator and fuel

The gas generator for the house has practically no drawbacks. The equipment will cost relatively cheap (as well as fuel is the most economical). In addition, the fuel consumption of products of this kind is lower than that of gasoline ones, and the motor resource, on the other hand, is higher. At the same time, the equipment is more ecological, not so noisy. The disadvantage of a gas generator is a large size (compared to other types of generators at a similar power).

The diesel generator for the house is distinguished by a large motor resource, high power, low fuel consumption. Such equipment is capable of providing electricity even to a very large house. To drawbacks of the diesel generator it is necessary to attribute a high noise level of work, a higher cost of equipment. At lower temperatures, startup problems may occur. It is also necessary to provide for the removal of gases generated during the operation of the generator. All this requires the installation of equipment in a special non-cold room, which has a high noise insulation, good ventilation.

Gasoline generator for the home is better to use as a backup source of electricity. This is due to the fact that they have a small motor resource, when operating, there is a large consumption of fuel. The main advantage is relatively low cost (in comparison with diesel equipment).

Also there are inverter generators, working on diesel or gasoline. Their main difference is the generation of electricity of a higher class. This is ensured by the serial conversion of the alternating current into a constant current , and then again into an alternating current. As a rule, an inverter generator for a house is used for "accurate" electrical appliances.
