At the end of 2013, the law "On Road Safety" was amended. The driver's license took a new look, and the types of vehicles divided into a larger number of categories. Rights for the new model now have a pink-blue background. Category "A1" (as well as "B1", "C1", "D1") allows drivers to control light vehicles.

Updated driver's license

In early March 2011 in Russia began to issue the rights of a new sample. From the "old" driver's licenses, they differ in appearance, adding a barcode and expanding the list of additional categories that allow you to manage individual vehicles. In the updated rights appeared category "A1", "BE", "Tm-tram" and some others. Most subcategories were introduced on 05.11.2013.

Under the new rules, the owner of a moped (scooter) has no right to operate the vehicle until he receives a driver's license of a certain category. This also includes light quad bikes. Mopeds can also be operated with "old" rights. The issuance of updated driver's licenses is carried out by the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate from April 1 of this year. Rights issued in 2011-2014. Category "A"

This designation of the vehicle is located at the very top of the special graph of the driver's license and provides the opportunity to operate motocycles. The category "A1" gives the right to be a driver of lighter motorcycles. Having category "A", the driver can operate a two-wheeled vehicle (both with side trailers and without them). He also has the right to sit behind the wheel of three- and four-wheeled vehicles, having a mass in running order <400 kg. To "ride" a two-wheeled friend, you need to undergo training with the passing of a theoretical, practical exam. Driving license A-category can be obtained in 18 years. Having such rights, you can ride on old models of sidecars.

Category "A1"

The driver's licenses of the new model expanded the list of categories of vehicles. Today in the UK there is even a category "G". It allows you to control the paver. But the rights of the category "A1" in Russia are issued at the age of 16. They give the right to operate "light" motorcycles. These include two-wheeled vehicles with a working engine capacity of up to 125 cm 3 , a power of not more than 11 kW. The category "A1" in the license means that the driver can drive three-wheeled vehicles with engine power above 50 cc or a speed of over 45 km / h. At the same time, their weight without cargo should be 550 kg or less. If the driver has rights with the category "A", then he can sit behind the wheel of the TC subcategory "A1". The flip side of the new driver's licenses contains the start and end date for each category.

The procedure for obtaining the rights to operate an "easy" motorcycle

Often, teenagers ride mopeds and motorcycles without having the appropriate driver's license. But it's easy to pass to the category "A1". A 16-year-old Russian citizen needs:

  • To learn the main provisions of traffic rules;
  • Learn to drive a two-wheeled vehicle, hiring an experienced instructor;
  • Receive a medical certificate;
  • Correctly fulfill the tasks of the theoretical, practical exam in the traffic police.

What skills are tested in the practical part of the exam?

A student wishing to have "A1" rights should demonstrate certain skills in the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, that is, perform a series of maneuvers.

  • Straightly move on a motorcycle, switching low gears to high and vice versa.
  • Show the ability to drive a two-wheeled vehicle at a minimum speed and do not lower your foot from the step - the "board".
  • To make a turn and turn of a small radius: "snake", "dimensional circle", "eight".

If the examiner does not perform a "board" or "figure-eight", jamming the engine at the moment of starting the motorcycle from its place, during stopping can not turn off the gear when the engine is running, the exam is completed. Candidates for drivers put a mark "did not pass." The question arises as to how to obtain the category "A1" in the event of a failure of the practical examination. It's simple: you have to perform the above maneuvers in the traffic police again after 7 days (in the case of passing the exam from the driving school).

Who can not manage the vehicle with the category "A1"

To get the rights, the future driver needs to undergo a special medical examination. Those who want to manage a two-wheeled "friend" are examined by the following specialists: otolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, surgeon, narcologist, psychiatrist, neuropathologist, therapist, gynecologist (women).

The rights to the category "A1" are not issued if the medical commission refuses to issue a certificate of fitness for managing the vehicle. The Ministry of Health has identified a list of diseases for which rights are prohibited. Among them:

  • Eye diseases, hearing organs (chronic);
  • Heart disease, blood vessels;
  • Mental illness;
  • Surgical diseases;
  • Delay in mental development;
  • Seizures of epilepsy;
  • Alcoholism of a chronic nature;
  • addiction;
  • Any form of substance abuse.

A special medical commission may issue an opinion on the unfitness to the management of the vehicle for a period of not more than 5 years.

How to replace old sample rights

Russian citizens have a valid driving license (maximum 10 years), after which they are considered void. To replace or restore rights, you do not need to take exams. You should apply to the traffic police department, take your passport, an "old" certificate, a medical certificate and a photocopy. All documents must be given to the traffic police officer, who after checking them gives the driver a receipt for payment of state duties. Rights change on the day of treatment. In some cases, a different period may be established: if the traffic police need to additionally verify the authenticity of documents or the identity of the driver, which causes suspicion. Before the process of replacing rights, it is better to pay past fines, so that inspectors do not have unnecessary questions during the verification of documents. The drivers are photographed on the driver's license of a new model in the MREO. Since 2011, it is possible to obtain two types of rights. The first is in the form of a paper laminated blank that has the dimensions of a passport. The second type is a plastic card. "Old" driver's licenses continue to operate until the end of the period indicated on them.
