Cat Burmilla longhair: a description of the breed, character

This snow-white beauty can charm even those people who are completely indifferent to the representatives of the cat. Ironically, this breed appeared quite accidentally in 1981.

History of the breed

The British Baroness von Kirchberg had a wonderful cat Persian chinchilla, called Sunquist, and a luxurious Burmese cat Faberge. The servants were ordered to watch the animals carefully to prevent crossbreeding of different breeds. And the baroness meanwhile was trying to find couples for her favorites.

However, the call of nature overcame all obstacles, and this couple still met. As a result, kitten hybrids appeared. From the father they inherited a silver color, and from the mother - a magnificent gentle fur coat. The children were so adorable that the Baroness decided that they would become the founders of the new breed. Immediately the name of the Burmilla breed was invented. The long-haired cat got its name from a combination of two words that make up the names of the breeds - Burma and Chinchilla.

To develop the breed, a whole harem of burmese cats was brought to the cat of Sanquist, and the ancestors of the breed began to be born. Today burmilla is recognized in different countries. She participates in the exhibitions and championships of the Canadian SSA, is recognized in Britain, but there she is called Tiffany, and together with short-haired varieties she forms a single breed, called Asian.

Three years after the appearance of the first offspring, a club of rock lovers was organized, and in 1989 snow-white beauties were recognized by the GCCF. Burmilla longhair was a huge success at the exhibitions. Before her beauty, no one could stand. Indifferent to this breed did not stay in Australia. Famous breeders-lovers Colin Walters and Tina Tisdale started breeding these cats. They have born kittens, apparently very reminiscent of Persian. And they became the founders of the Australian Tiffany breed.
