It all began at the dawn of the twentieth century. In 1902, a young American from Kansas, being a pupil and apprentice of a blacksmith, invented and perfected a completely new technology. Thanks to its heat treatment method, knife blades acquired unique properties and were of the highest quality. In the beginning, the young inventor made his knives in the premises of the old workshop, and the raw materials for them were ordinary old files that had become obsolete. However, the talent and skill of the author more than offset all the temporary difficulties of the production process. The real popularity with the products, which came from the hands of Hoyt Buck, came with the beginning of the Second World War. The military appreciated all the advantages of these knives, their extraordinary strength and reliability.

Family business

Having become a family, Buck moved with his family to California in 1947, where he founded HH Buck & Son, the company that produces Buck knives. As the name implies, his partner and assistant in this case was the eldest son Alfred. It was with him that his father shared all the subtleties and wisdoms of his innovative technology. When two years later Hoyt Buck died, Alfred continued his father's business alone.
