The birth of Boris Leontievich goes back to the history of the last century. He was born in the Ekaterinoslav province in the distant 1908. In Lugansk district his family settled. Jews by nationality, they lived peacefully, working in the factory. At the Kramatorsky plant at the age of fifteen, Boris Gorbatov himself settled himself. He began his career as a planer. Within the walls of his native enterprise, the young man first felt the urge for writing, while simultaneously becoming a working correspondent. Describing the life of the working class, he realized in what sphere he wants to realize himself in the future.

The birth of a new star

Writer's debut took place in 1922. Then, the newspaper "All-Union stokehold" published a short story "Fed and hungry." Of course, seeing the workmen's workdays with their own eyes, the author quickly reflected them in the work. Readers liked it. Thus was born a new Gorbatov Boris - a writer who will become known in a wide range of personality a little later.

Komsomol members will become the main heroes of Boris's future stories. In 1928, "Cell" comes out - another vivid reflection of life in the mid-1920s. The success of these works was appreciated in journalistic circles. In 1930, Boris Leontievich was invited to work as an essayist in the newspaper Pravda. As its employee, he goes to the Arctic, and on his return from the trip he issues several materials on the development of the north, later included in the book "Ordinary Arctic".

Writer, public figure, reviewer

It seemed that this was a great step and no less responsibility. The love of the public and the recognition of colleagues in a short time was received by Boris Gorbatov. The writer himself died in 1954, is buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow. In 2008, Lugansk, where he came from, was issued a commemorative postal symbol, specially designed for the 100th anniversary of Gorbatov. In memory of him, in the year of the writer's death, the cruise ship Boris Gorbatov came to the water from the port of Stalingrad.

Giving himself a favorite occupation, Boris Leontievich did not forget about personal happiness. His spouses were actresses Tatyana Okunevskaya and Nina Arkhipova. From the second marriage, son Michael (cardioreanimatologist) and daughter Elena (teacher) were born.

As a participant in the war, he received medals "For the capture of Berlin", "For the defense of Odessa", "For the liberation of Warsaw." In addition, in the arsenal of Gorbatov there is a whole list of awards associated with the writing activities - the Stalin and Leninist Komsomol Prize.

For several decades, the Ukrainian-Russian literary critic David Medrish researched the work of Boris Gorbatov. Undoubtedly, the latter made a great contribution to the development of Soviet and post-war literature. Critics noted a special style of the writer - a strong emotional, hot evaluation of the events that constitute the basis of the work. Many of the works are romantic. As a rule, most of the books were dedicated to ordinary people, to miners-hard workers, whose life and work Gorbatov knew not by hearsay. The first part of the Donbass, conceived as a large multi-volume project, was the only one of this series. Unfortunately, the author did not manage to return to the theme of the Stakhanovite movement of the 1930s during his lifetime.
