Boots are drawn: the history of the name

"And before that I did not know that!" - everyone knows this line from Garik Sukachev's known song in our time. But many people had a question about what kind of shoes they were made, thanks to which they would recognize the "cute gait"? There are three versions of the origin of this name.

To start a little history

The first song was performed by the Russian baritone singer Yuri Morfessi. In his performance, such songs as "Chubchik" (later it was sung by Leonid Utesov), "Dear Long", "Bubly Chicks", "Black Eyes" and many other Roma romances became known. In the old song recording about the boots of this performer, it is heard "on the rips", which is probably from the Ukrainian "rip", that is, creaking. At the beginning of the twentieth century, boots with a wooden sole were very popular, which, when walking, produced a characteristic creak. At that time it was considered a special chic. Let's recall a line from another popular song - "with a terrible creaking of shoes". Basically, such a sole was made from birch. It turns out that Garik Sukachev misinterpreted the famous song? This is not quite true. In later versions, it is clearly heard that "boots are made". It turns out that in the twenties of the last century, Morfessi himself corrected the epithet "on rips".

"Victims of Fashion"

Russian performers in emigration understood that the French audience would not understand such a strange fashion for shoes with a creak. Although in the Soviet Union for a long time there was a tendency for such shoes. Shoes with creaking up to the fifties of the twentieth century were considered a cult thing. Especially among workers. A characteristic squeak made it known that there was not some rabble, but an important and fashionable man. Especially valuable was considered when only one of the shoes creaked. To do this, the tree was tied to the bottom of the boot or sugar was poured into the heel. The sole of the dry birch bark quickly worn out, but this did not stop the desperate mods.

Such a strange feature of the preferences of the Russians was difficult to explain to practical Europeans. Therefore, Morfessi replaced with a more euphonious name "shoes nariman." And this is not an accidental choice. At that time, there was a large corporation specializing in the production of haberdashery goods, as well as such popular footwear. It was called, as you may have guessed, Nariman (North Association of Imperial Merchandise Apparels Nationwide). Boots are painted (a photo of how they look in the classic version, attached) were developed more than one hundred and fifty years ago, but remain popular in our time. Both in the male and female versions.

Who of the celebrities wore shoes nariman?

The model of this footwear in our time is called Chelsea Boots. Under the same name, they are known to the wider public. All the twentieth-century style dancers must have had their shoes in their wardrobe . Ballerinas and girls working in the factory, bankers and fishermen, bandits and bohemians, aristocrats and commoners - all wore boots nariman. At one time in such shoes were Elvis Presley, the famous Liverpool four and Freddie Mercury. In the post-Soviet space, in all the adaptations of Ostap Bender's adventures from the immortal works of Ilf and Petrov, the main character flaunts in Narimanov.

The third version of the origin of the name

This option is less romantic and less common in various sources of the history of the origin of the famous shoes. But nevertheless, he has the right to exist. It is a well-known in narrow circles Baku shoe factory, which bears the name of one of the party figures of the Azerbaijani Sovnarkom Nariman Narimanov.

The cult model of footwear is now considered to be classical and is found in the collections of many famous brands.
