Blue rat is a beautiful pet

Rats are extraordinary animals. They appeared on Earth long before humans - about 47-48 million years ago. Attitudes toward these animals are polar different: some are terrified of these rodents, others admire their beauty and ingenuity.

In any case, such an unusual animal deserves attention. And specifically one of the species today in the focus of the discussion is a blue rat.

Description

This living is considered an aristocrat among his own kind, and it is not accidental. Unusual color - that's what made the animal so popular.

The rat has an even color throughout its length, and the main "highlight" in its color is the bluish undercoat, which gives this unusual shade of rat hair. The paws of the animal also correspond to the overall color of the undercoat. But the stomach can be one of three colors: silver, white or gray.

Decorative blue rats do not differ from their counterparts in size - the average female rat weighs about 300-400 grams, reaching 39-45 cm in size along with the tail. The tail itself is 15-20 cm.

The blue rat grows up at the age of 1.5 years, but it is ready to reproduce in 4 months.

Behavior, nature and way of life

Decorative rats are very kind animals. They are closely attached to their master. If the animal is taken at an early age, the rat can safely travel on the owner's shoulder even in the open space.

Often, rats spend most of their time outside the cell. However, one should be cautious - rodents like to spoil various accessible things.

The nature of the rats may differ, but on the whole it is very affectionate and loving animals. Sometimes they are difficult to follow - their activity can be envied.

Also rats are considered to be one of the most intelligent animals. That is why rats are chosen as experimental subjects in laboratories. The animal easily remembers its nickname and responds to it, and it also easily gives in to training.

How to communicate with the animal?

The blue rat does not tolerate loneliness, that's why sometimes a couple of animals are planted. However, if there is no possibility or desire to start two or three pets, then one animal should be given a lot of attention and not keep for long in the cage, because rats have curiosity. An average rat needs at least one hour of communication per day.

In this respect, rats are very similar to dogs - they are more than other animals need care and attention of a person.

Food

Since the domestic blue rat is a rodent, this must be taken into account when selecting a diet. One store feed for the full health of the animal is not enough. In the diet of the animal must include products such as, for example, cooked meat. This product should be well boiled and to separate fat. It is necessary to cut the meat into small pieces.

You can also give porridge, but it is better to give preference to crumbly porridges. You can give the manga in small quantities, but be careful - the blue rat can easily choke viscous porridge, and to help the animal, you need to know a special technique that is not so easy to learn. Therefore, be careful when feeding porridges.

It is also allowed to give raw meat, but infrequently and in small quantities. Also, it will not be superfluous to feed the rat occasionally with well-cooked kidneys, liver or heart. It is necessary to make boiled egg white 1-2 times a week in the diet.

Also do not forget about different plants. For example, in summer the animal can be given flowers and leaves of dandelion, plantain, chamomile and branches of fruit trees (which will help the rat to grind teeth). Also, for the same purpose, the cedar nuts and chicken bones are added to the diet.

Choice of store feed

When choosing a feedstuff, care should be taken to ensure that it includes:

  • barley;
  • wheat;
  • millet;
  • Oats.

In addition, the choice of feed depends on the age of the animal. So, young rats are suitable for such "fatty" food, as Little One, etc. But for old animals, fatty foods must be "diluted" with simpler grain formulations, for example "Zverushki" fodder.

Do not skimp on your little animal - do not buy too cheap feed, in which only 2-3 cereals are mixed.

Lifespan

The blue rat lives how many? The life span of these animals does not differ from the life of their fellow humans - it is about 2-3 years, although there are long-livers.

In general, the lifespan of a rat depends on proper nutrition. This should be given special attention and avoid obesity or excessive leanness of the animal.

Also the life span of an animal depends on its activity. Rats, which are constantly kept exclusively in a cage, live much less than their counterparts.

Unfortunately, such lovely animals are prone to various diseases, but the most sad thing is that the most common "rat" disease is oncology. It manifests itself in tumors, the mammary glands are most at risk. It is noted that almost every animal suffered from aging with oncology. Many of the rats die from this disease.

To cope with these ailments will help the veterinarian. The necessary course of drugs, regular treatment and supervision by a specialist will help at least to alleviate, and even completely cure oncology. Therefore, at the first signs of the disease (the presence of small tumors), you need to contact the veterinarian.

Now you are fully aware of what this animal is - a blue rat. And with confidence you can decide whether to start a pet or better to wait. The blue rat (photos of which are presented above) will be an excellent pet and also a member of the family.
