Blood with urination

Blood with urination can be a symptom of the formation of kidney stones. It should be noted that this is a very common disease. Kidney stones may form inside the kidneys or other part of the urinary tract.

The disease is accompanied by pain in the groin, side or stomach. Change in body position, as a rule, does not bring relief.

Blood with urination may be a consequence of other disorders. This symptom is called "hematuria". Specialists classify microscopic and macroscopic forms. In the first case, impurities are detected only in laboratory analysis. With macroscopic hematuria, blood can be seen with the naked eye when you urinate.

Regardless of the amount of impurities contained, an examination is necessary to determine the exact cause and diagnosis.

Blood during urination may leave the organ that participates in the formation and transport of urine, which causes a full study of the entire tract. The examination is carried out even in case of relief of attacks or their complete disappearance. The urethra, bladder, kidney, prostate, ureters are exposed to the study.

The most common reasons for the development of hematuria include, in addition to the formation of stones, trauma, infection, cancer. When urinating, blood also appears as a result of the development of nonspecific renal inflammation. Hematuria is often noted after taking a blood-thinning medication.

It should be noted that, depending on the cause, the patient can observe blood at the end of urination or throughout the entire emptying process.

Diagnosis of this condition is carried out taking into account all predisposing factors, including heredity. To identify the cause of hematuria, as a rule, apply three basic research activities.

For examination of the urinary tract, computed tomography is used. The procedure for scanning the abdominal cavity and pelvic organs of the patient involves the introduction of a contrast medium into his body. Then the patient is scanned, which allows to identify violations.

Excretory urography refers to the methods of X-ray examination and also involves the administration of contrast medium intravenously. During the examination, the drug is filtered by the urinary system. X-ray examinations are conducted in more than thirty minutes. Thus, any pathology of the urinary system is revealed.

Another method of investigation is cystoscopy. For examination of the urethra and bladder a special device is used. As a rule, the procedure does not cause considerable discomfort in the patient. The cystoscope is inserted into the bladder through the canal. The examination is continued for ten minutes.

Cytological examination of the patient's urine involves checking for the presence or absence of cancer cells.

Treatment of hematuria is selected in accordance with the identified cause of the disorder. It should be noted that in a number of cases, specialists are unable to identify the predisposing factor. As a consequence, therapeutic measures are aimed at eliminating the effects of the condition, alleviating the symptoms. In addition, a regular (annual) medical examination is scheduled in order to detect any changes in the patient in time.

Mandatory are urine tests, as well as control of blood pressure. Men after fifty years of age are assigned a laboratory blood test to identify a specific prostate antigen to check for the presence or absence of cancer.
