American teens: psychology and interesting facts

Children all over the world have a lot in common, they develop in a similar scenario. But in the adolescent period, some differences begin to form. Given that the United States and Russia are always opposed to each other, it will be interesting to know how different Russian and American teenagers are.

Attitude towards study

American teenagers are very responsive to the educational process. Moreover, they like to study. They actively participate in the public life of the school and university, spend a lot of time on the development of some projects. Moreover, in the United States, it is not shameful to learn, because parents or sponsor organizations pay for their studies, and the invested funds need to be worked out. For Russian teenagers, the period of study is a fun and carefree time. Free schooling is perceived as a reality. Thus, individual responsibility is developed.

American teenagers mostly know which university they will go to and who they will become in the future. Sometimes parents make this choice for them. This forces teenagers to learn to plan their time and life in advance. Most Russian schoolchildren, unfortunately, until the last moment may not know in which particular institution they will study.

Another interesting point is cheating and cheat sheets. American teenagers never do that on exams. Moreover, if they see a cheating, they will certainly be given to the teacher. But Russian children have something like a sport. They not only manage to write off at examinations, but actively help each other.

From an early age, American children and adolescents are involved in active social activities. They take part in charity events and other events. All this in order to be perceived as individuals. Among Russian schoolchildren and students there are also many activists, but so far this practice is not so common.

Appearance

American teenagers are not fixated on their appearance. As a rule, they do not complex about excess weight or some other shortcomings. Not trying to match fashion trends, both guys and girls go in free T-shirts and jeans. Thus, there are no complexes about the social status, the cost of clothing or belonging to a brand.

Among Russian teenagers, everything is absolutely different. If most of the guys are light-minded about their appearance, then for girls this is a painful topic. They are reverently approaching the choice of outfits, competing with each other.

Relations with the older generation

What do we know about American teenagers? On youth films and news reports it is quite difficult to make any specific impression. But we can not but pay attention to the fact that they are respected and supported by the older generation. In America it is believed that the future is for young people, but because if a person has a chance to give a teenager a job or help realize the idea, he will certainly do it. Even if for this it is necessary to press the employee with the experience and send it on pension, the chief will prefer to open road to the young man.

Unfortunately, the Russian youth are much more difficult to realize themselves. The older generation refers to teenagers with disbelief and even condemnation. All initiatives or attempts at self-expression are perceived with bayonets by the conservatives. Often in some institutions, certain positions are held by pensioners, while young people can not find a job.

First job

Surely many people are interested in the life of American teenagers, the peculiarities of their life. Its integral part is work. Already from the age of 13, the teenager has the legal right to independently obtain pocket money for himself, having received permission from the school and parents. This can be the spoiling of mail, paddocking pets, looking after children and much more. Somewhere by the age of 16, young people are striving to get a job in public catering establishments or at gas stations. And this absolutely does not interfere with studies, because employers willingly make concessions. Thus, adolescents from an early age get used to independent earnings and begin to put off for the future.

In this very different Russian and American teens. Our guys do not have any legal grounds or the opportunity to work, for example, from the age of 13, and therefore they stay longer dependent on their parents. It is unlikely that someone will entrust a 13-year-old to look at a neighbor's child or carry out correspondence. In addition, in our region for some reason it is believed that it is impossible to effectively combine work and study.

Intimate Relationships

The secret life of an American teenager is inseparably linked with intimate relationships. According to statistical research, most young people acquire the first sexual experience not later than 17 years. In this case, cases of coercion to intimacy are not uncommon (especially for girls). So, the surveys showed the following:

• 7% of the girls indicated that their first sexual contact occurred as a result of violent actions;
• 25% of the girls indicated that they came into contact voluntarily, but without much desire, but only to please the partner;
• 70% of women who have entered into an intimate relationship at the age of 13 years, feel regret and remorse.

As for Russian teenagers, unfortunately, the situation is roughly the same. Every year young people enter into intimate relations all earlier, which is connected with sexual illiteracy. Neither the institution of the family nor the educational institutions pay enough attention to this issue.

Conclusion

Russian and American teenagers seem very different. Nevertheless, their current lifestyle is very similar. Young people tend to learn information faster, using digital technologies, rather than focusing on voluminous book material. Having access to almost all data, adolescents from all over the world do not know only one thing - what to devote to your life, how to realize yourself. The only difference is that in American society, young people have more opportunities for self-development and earnings.
